Interesting that the flame angel and coral beauty are getting along just fine. I haven't even seen a chase at feeding time. I suspect tank size and rock scape have a lot to do with success or failure mixing these two

My bubble coral started looking bad so I decided to pull it and clean the rock off that it has been on for the last 7+ years. It had a bunch of tube type worms very brittle that I suspect may have been irritating the flesh along with some small sponges. The coral is normally so big that the rock has become a mini cryptic area.

I figured I would go ahead and dip it while it was out. I used coral rx and found one flat worm. One more week and I'll be bringing the melanurus up. After dipping I was looking to see what might have come off and I see pods swimming around enjoying life. Hmm if pods are still alive what are the chances some nasties survived? Time for the good stuff

Still didn't see any nasties fall off so I rinsed it and back in the tank and then to bed for me. I half expected the coral to look pathetic or even die but to my surprise it was starting to inflate when the lights came on in the morning.

And then almost back to normal yay.

Hi there! I stumbled across your thread and am very curious how you like the lighting? I did a quick google, and that price tag is nice. Have you had many issues?
I'm very happy with the noopsyche k7s. I moved them over from my previous tank. Everything did very well under them. This is the tank they were on

I just received my first k7s over the weekend(only took 2-1/2 weeks for delivery) and have been playing around with the various light setting all week. If you do not mind sharing what settings you used to get such a nice looking tank.

Sorry that was my previous tank and I didn't save those settings. I should probably get around to using beananimal's QR generator but I don't change light settings that often so I haven't bothered.
What I normally do is set the levels so the lighting is pleasing to me then test par and increase or decrease each level equally as needed to get the par I want.

Prazipro treatment finished so time to bring the melanurus up to the DT. I was able to just lift the pot of sand out while the wrasse was sleeping and carry it up and place it in the tank and the wrasse never stirred.

Did some running and came back and he's out cruising the rock. Hopefully he'll go to work on the flatworms so I won't have to keep blowing them off of my sinularia and orange shrooms every day.

so whats your over tall thoughts on thr SM surf? look like it took 3 months to grow turf algae?
what air pump did you end up using?
I went with two Danner AP-4. It's the first ATS I've used and I'm very happy with it. I'm extra happy now that I found out I can recycle the algae by feeding it to the tangs. Cycle of life :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

All caught up…mostly…I skimmed through some of it . Beautiful tank, and great set up. That’s is the tank I hope to have one day. Great inspiration on the light fixture, 80/20 is awesome stuff.

the tank is looking so good! and those tangs are fat and happy...

really leaning towards the surf 2X for the RS 300XL LPS tank and the main filtration...
I ran skimmers for years but when I started the WB 330.7 I wanted to try something different to keep things interesting.
My SPS tank is a 300 xl (I posted a pic in your thread ). I'm running a reefmat as my only filtration. I have a ball of chaeto but I never harvest. I just keep it for pods to grow in. I did add a surf 2 to my reefer 170 recently. The 170 has been a mess since I rescaped it with dry rock about 18 months ago. I had gha everywhere so I used Flux and then I got cyano so I used chemiclean and off I went

200w (2).gif

I finally quit the chems and the gha took over. I've been manually removing it for the last 6 months or longer. Did three rip cleans durring that time. I added the surf 2 as my last resort to see if it will out compete the gha in the display. It hasn't been long enough to say for sure it's working but the gha appears to be getting weak and comes off much easier when I vacuum so time will tell. Its starting to grow some algae. This is today. It's been running 2 months. I'm using the same Danner air pump.

I'll admit I'm not the sharpest pencil in the pack and sometime when I do things then I go back and wonder what the heck I was thinking. For some reason I mounted my rodi system above the washing machine. Probably because I have the patience of a gnat and didn't feel like waiting to go to town and get what I needed to do it better (I'm better with the tanks themselves as far as patience). My organization skills suck as well and organized chaos doesn't really bother me much. Anyway this is what I had
PXL_20240917_185213474.jpg

I had to climb on a chair to change filters also which is not recommended for old folks because we no longer bounce.
The really stupid part of the set up was the water dripped on the control panel of the washing machine when I changed filters. So I ordered some stuff which came today and to work I went. It's not super cool and techie looking but I've alway been a function over form kinda guy. I'm pleased with the results
