Okay everyone, I have a 90 gallon I bought with stand back in 2012 when I graduated Paramedic School. I drilled it for overflow and return and put an overflow box on the inside, again back 12-13ish. We ended up doing a lot of moving and the tank went into storage until 2021 when we bought our first house back home here in Iowa. At that time I had done 2 reef tanks. The first one back in like 2009 when I had no idea what I was doing and before BRSTV. Second one in 2019 to 2020 before we moved towns which was a 28g nano and super successful minus some, at the time, unexplained fish deaths (pretty sure it was diet which was completely my fault for not understanding the dietary needs of the fish like I do now for the most part thanks to YouTube. Then we moved and due to time constraints i gave the tank and everything to another reefer. Anyway, used the 90 gallon tank in 2021 till just a month ago for a freshwater planted tank, which in my opinion was actually way more difficult to keep nice and maintain than my last reef tank. Took the tank down and gave the last of my fish away to local hobbyists and an LFS in Des Moines I like which now leaves the tank empty, ready for a scrub, and a blank slate for the reef tank I bought it for back in 2012. So, here's my build as of today and moving forward. The lights are 3 low hour a360we's and 1 a360x I picked up used around the area for a decent price which all work very well from what I can tell. The sump is a Fiji Cube 24 that I picked up used in Coralville with an osmolator and a heater thrown in. Skimmer is a Simplicity 240dc that I got used in Ankeny. I'm slowly buying rock from the LFS's around me as well as the stuff for plumbing. Hoping to get a project done once a week as I get the tank ready for water. Currently I'm working on my mixing station. Figured that was a good project to start with. Wish me luck and any advice or opinions I gladly read and take something away from!
