If it does come off like that then it doesn’t come easily. I’ve tried Pulli GN and twisting but it’s not coming.
It’s gotta come off like that. There’s no other logical way.

My regal skimmer is also tight when I push it all the way in, so I basically sit the cup on top. It still has a watertight seal, and I don’t have to wrestle it out during maintenance.

Try holding the skimmer body down and pulling the top off.

You were right. Just took a lot of force. But cleaned it and got one of the weirdest algae’s out. I call it skimmer algae as it only grows inside skimmer cups so far as I’ve seen

We just call it nori in America. Skimmer algae has a nice ring to it. ;)

Are you going to press the skimmer all the way down the neck once you finish cleaning it?

Nope! It’s precariously balanced on some plastic bars because the sump is too deep anyway lol.

Now the same power head is being loud again. I’ve learned my lesson though. No messing with it at night lest the Foxface try and stab me again. Will clean it tomorrow

Mine isn’t balancing. It’s pretty secure. It’s just gently pushed in.

It takes very little force to get it in and out.

Nevertheless, I’m glad we got the top off!

Great work, Sam!

Plan for the RFA is to coax it out by moving the power head out of the water incrementally.
IMG_1267.jpeg

So for 45$ for like 2.5” frag what do you think?
IMG_1265.jpeg

Not as colorful as this micro but still nice

45 is a solid nice price for a fully encrusted frag.

The twice as big birds nest was $30

The reason I took the photo was because I decided to look at battle corals. Those are pretty but $150 for a 1” is pushing it farther than I want to go.

Also I tried to buy a GFO reactor and Magnesium Chloride but accidentally bought Magnesium sulfate so hopefully I can cancel that and try again. Don’t need another 7lbs :face-with-tears-of-joy:

Birds grow a lot faster than most acropora. They are very thinly branched and grow like weeds. So, 30 for a nice sized birdsnest is common in lfs.

That fully encrusted acro? That can take months. So, theres no way i could pass that mini acro colony.

So, did you snag the acro?

It’s the one I got on Thursday lol
Well you’ll have to wait for the polyps to extend but here are the pictures of the unhappy corals.
Acropora:

Montipora: yes it’s not pretty now but the mother colony was awesome
IMG_1243.jpeg

Stylophora: LFS thought it was Serriatopora but it looked far too fluffy when it was happy??

Crabcakes. Isn’t it huge!
