He's been there for a few weeks. He looks great and I wish I had room for both of them
How much do they ask for him?

Given the choice between these Halichoeres wrasse, which one would you choose for a 3 x 2 x 1.5 60 gallon tank?

Rubricephalus
Leucoxanthus
Cosmetus
Richmondi
Chrysus
Biocellatus
I would get a Leucoxanthus or Biocellatus in that group for a 60 gal. They are the smallest.
If I have to have one from that genus I would pick an Iritis which is not on that list.

I did not :disappointed-face:
I just don't have the space to add another wrasse to my collection.
I'm down to 3 because they're some beasts, beautiful beasts.
I'm at wrasse capacity.

So I put my exquisite in the display. I decide to go straight into the display no acclimation box cause it just seemed way to small. I released him and he swam off into a cave. I woke to him dead in the Sand. Smh I’m not sure what happened he doesn’t look beat up. Looks like he died from shock. I didn’t drip acclimate that’s the only thing I can think of. Idk really but will do it differently in the future. Sucks

Was this shipped to you in O2? What was salinity of shipping water and of your DT?

No he was in qt for a few weeks. I don’t know if the salinity between the tank and the qt was to different.

Rubricephalus
Leucoxanthus
Cosmetus
Richmondi
Chrysus
Biocellatus
In terms of comfort or looks/personality?

Comfort
1. Biocellatus
2. Leucoxanthus
3. Chrysus
4. Cosmetus
5. Rubricephalus (unfamilar with this guy)
6. Richmondi (biggest of the lot)

Looks
1. Chrysus (LOVE my banana Coris!)
2. Cosmetus
3. Rubricephalus
4. Biocellatus
5. Leucoxanthus
6. Richmondi

I'd also add claudia, which I think is similar to biocellatus but slightly better colors. I'd like to know more about rubricephalus. Comments on R2R sounds like it is similar to Macropharyngodon in terms of acclimation difficulty and personality (latter a great thing). Some have said the head color dulls to maroon in aquaria, but I imagine that depends on many factors.

Hey all. Always been a big Angelfish guy. Thinking about purchasing a Rhomboid pair. Can’t find much on temperament outside of one thread labeling them as timid/skiddish.

Would be going in a 210. I do have 2x Bandits in the tank and an Achilles that definitely harass newcomers. But calm down after a few days.

If it’s a bad idea, be honest. I know very little on wrasses outside of basic care. I saw that terminal male WWC had at RAP a couple years ago. Took me a second to even figure out what I was looking at. Stunning fish.

The cirhilabrus group don’t pair. They will both become males and fight. The rhomboid is a nice choice though. @jkcoral has a nice one

Lol. Like that little piece of info there. This is why we ask! Thanks man.
Best would be a rhomboid and another Cirrhilabrus species so that they can play off of each other, keep the flashing up and colors vibrant.

Perhaps a bathyphilus? Or if sky's the limit, an earlei? naokoae might work for your tank, too. So many options!

Need to know this. A lot of stores etc will run their fish only an QT tanks at 1.018. If you dump the fish in the DT at 1.026 that would not be a good thing.

You should get one. Such a beautiful fish that pictures can never do justice.

As others said, getting two isn’t a good idea. Even though I completely understand the temptation. Maybe you could get a female and watch it transition. That’s what I did, and watching it evolve from last April til now has been really cool.

Was timid when it was a small female, but when it began to transition it would actually chase people (mostly my pintail) and now is pretty much only hiding if I scare it or the exquisite is roid raging. They have really expressive eyes, so when they are a little spooked or weary, it is funny seeing them peeking at you with their glowing eyes!

Scott’s are really pretty fish, but oh my they have been some of the meanest fish in my experience. Wish there was a more peaceful strain of them to be found somewhere in the world!
