Hey, wondering what everyone's suggestions would be for wrasse in an IM 60?
I have a couple ideas, but I'd like some outside thoughts to expand my plan.

It’s got the body of a Cheilinus species and it’s between Unifasciatus and Diagramma. Diagramma doesn’t have the lined eye so it is a Unifasciatus.
Well I guess you are right?
It’s Oxycheilinus unifasciatus. I was sure it was a cheilinus and wasn’t considering the Oxy-‘s. I had to go by distribution and the photo is from Hawaii and there are no Cheilinus and only two Oxycheilinus neither of which looked like the photo in my guide. Had to find some adult male photos to make the ID.
You love those big torpedoes
It was posted by a guide I follow. I would say I love the face and hate the tail. Put that face on the body of a normal shaped wrasse and it would be perfect.

Is that a cube?

The two clowns are probably leaving my main tank and headed to the nano, unfortunately. Let the female loose from her acclimation box jail cell and all the wrasses immediately went to the back (yellow and blue star were already in the sand when I started pulling out the acclimation box, so maybe they'll come out eventually). Brunneus is hanging in the back and peering around corners nervously. Female clown chased him a few times. :angry-face:

So... what goes in next? I have the rubeus on the way, which was meant to be my last fish. Now with the clowns leaving, I'm thinking of one more wrasse.

Currently will be:
P. ataenia x 2
C. brunneus
C. rubeus
H. chrysus
M. bipartitis

Ideas: C. exquisitus, C. lubbocki... C. isosceles would be interesting, but that is also a Lunatus Complex, along with the brunneus, so conflict? A Pseudojuloides would be very interesting, but I don't know where I'd find one, or if it'd be affordable, or if it would make it through QT...

My votes would be C lubbocki, M meleagris, or M negroensis.

negroensis was high on my list previously... might aim for a 3rd fairy though to keep the others stimulated. So much to consider!

I wonder if when I upgrade to a 5' or 6' tank if I can reintroduce the clowns or if they will be nasty even in a bigger tank.

Jasmine has been acting a little bit strange with her reflection today. Think this is just because I cleaned the glass? That probably doesn't say much about my husbandry...

35.43" L x 23.62" W x 16.14" H
More of a standard rectangle tank.
IM60 is a great size for a leopard or two, a Halichoeres and a few easier-going fairies. I have in my IM40L, which has similar dimensions (but 13"H):
Cirrhilabrus brunneus
Halichoeres chrysus
Macropharyngodon bipartitis
Pseudocheilinops ataenia x 2

and soon to arrive:
Cirrhilabrus rubeus

So far only the clowns are causing problems. I might swap out the clowns and add another fairy or another leopard.

Vivien, negrosensis. I would personally avoid the pintail. Beautiful yes but too timid. This is my second one. It was great in QT with the naoke and leopard but now in the DT it is skittish like the last one and losing weight. It’s in with a babi, chrysus, vivien, naoke, watanabe, bellus and clowns . It’s mot an issue with inter fish aggression but that of fast aggressive eaters that it can’t compete with. IMO this should be the single wrasse in a peaceful tank.

I've got a decent feeding system that gets well-distributed in the tank so even the shy fish are able to grab food easily:
This happens 4x/day and the pellet feeder goes off 3x/day--there is where I see the aggressive eaters really going for it. Once I get the plank feeder, I expect it to be even better.

But yeah, I'm kinda on your side with the pintail.

Right now I'm thinking about removing the two clowns and getting 1 negrosensis or 1 lubbocki + 1 possum (maybe, I worry about gangster possums...). I love the negrosensis, but I'd feel better about two leopards in a slightly larger tank, regardless of how well I feed. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What about a Mariner 70?

It's going to have H. Melanurus and H. Leucoxanthus eventually but for now....

I'm thinking 3 or 4 tangs as well....

That was totally a joke. I'm only going to have a Tomini.
