Sleeps in the rockwork in a mucous cocoon if that is what you were asking.Six line... Rubble or sand?
Beautiful ornate!New leopard wrasse
Yes! Thank you. I was considering getting one for the frag tank which is bare bottom except for lots of Australian live rock rubble. so this is perfect.Sleeps in the rockwork in a mucous cocoon if that is what you were asking.
Which one or all are coming home with you?So saw an incredible wrasse today, Stethojulis balteata, look it up and those cyan lines are insane in person! Among the usual I saw both male and female bird wrasse. An absolutely massive Thalassoma trilobatum, probably a good foot in length. Bodianus albotaeniatus and of course the fore mentioned Hawaiian clenaers. Also forgot to mention the Pseudocheilinus evanidus and the species of ugly wrasse aka iniistius wrasse I’ve seen probably I pavo or celebiscus.
There is a wrasse I cannot ID though. It is fairly standard in shape and it’s only significant detail is a bright yellow but small spot right where the pectoral fin attaches to the side.
Where are your underwater camera pics!?Added Anampses cuvier and Novaculilichthys taeniourius this morning! The Cuvier is beautiful and the dragons are so fun to watch.
I know. I’m mad I didn’t buy one. I think I would have had I known I was going but the trip was so sudden.Where are your underwater camera pics!?
That's what I'm trying to get clarification on but according to what I read, yes!So you can go to Hawaii, collect your own fish and take them back with you as long as you don’t sell them?
Group trip to Hawaii anyone?
DO I NEED A LICENSE OR PERMIT TO COLLECT AQUATIC LIFE FOR MY PERSONAL HOME AQUARIUM?
No. You may collect aquatic life for your home aquarium without a license or permit, provided you use legal gear and methods. Small mesh throw nets are always prohibited. Regulations such as minimum size, season, bag limits, etc., still apply. Please be aware that any taking of aquarium fish or other aquatic life in the West Hawai‘i Regional Fishery Management Area is prohibited.
Any other wrasses have this behavior (are china and meleagris leopard wrasses strictly sandbed sleepers?)Sleeps in the rockwork in a mucous cocoon if that is what you were asking.
Thank you….definitely the best looking fish in my tank. Disappeared first day but out since then…Beautiful ornate!
Fairies, flashers, lined, pink streakAny other wrasses have this behavior
Yes(are china and meleagris leopard wrasses strictly sandbed sleepers?)
Pencil wrasse?Fairies, flashers, lined, pink streak
Yes
Yes, unfortunately all Anampses, Pseudojuloides, Macropharyngodon, Xenojulis and Halichoeres require a sand bed.Pencil wrasse?
Interesting, how many hours will it take the China wrasse to completely decimate the amphipod populationYes, unfortunately all Anampses, Pseudojuloides, Macropharyngodon, Xenojulis and Halichoeres require a sand bed.
If you’re worried about coral on the sand, you can move them away from where the wrasse sleeps (Wrasses tend to sleep in the same area every night).
Honestly, it could take months and possibly even years.Interesting, how many hours will it take the China wrasse to completely decimate the amphipod population
