Unfortunately yes, I’ve had wrasses die by using similar substrate in my own tank.

You really want a fine sand (it doesn’t have to be truly fine) for the majority of your tank and if you want, I’ve had success in mixing larger sand in with my finer sand. My sand is about 3/4 truly fine sand and 1/4 a variety of more coarse sand.

My iridis shows some wounds from the sand but generally it’s not a huge amount and only 1-2 scales missing now. It used to be patches of scales that were lost but now I’ve made my sand finer it’s reduced it a lot.
My iridis also losses scales regularly. I guess I need to keep repalcing more of my coarse sand.

This boy was the equivalent of $45.

He doesn’t have the best colours don’t get me wrong, I do want to try and boost his colours but he just doesn’t find reasons to display. My other fairies mind their own businesses and don’t display so I do need to see if I can get them to display more often (Mirrors don’t seem to work with my lot but I’ve not tried for a short while).
Mine flashes the cherub angel but no way am I transferring him to the DT with the naoke.

These fish travel more than I do.
How did she adjust to your lights. Viviens are sensitive to time changes and also their gills are sensitive. She didn’t even have a straight shot to you. She had a layover at Joel’s. Think he hustled wanted to give her good by kisses

I think you will be interested to see this rare Wrasse.
I got such a handsome man three weeks ago!
Razor Wrasses (Novaculops halsteadi)
He looks very cool and it seems that he should be aggressive towards small fish, but in fact he is very calm and did not offend anyone.

I will vouch for @REEF EXCLUSIVE. Great fish, price and quick to ship. Health of the fish and how well they adjusted to the tank was also a surprise.

I’ve had a wishlist there for quite a while and I love a wrasse of a weird genus! Though I’m really tempted by the tusk and maybe the dwarf fuzzy.

Harlequin Tusk is a quite calm fish, if there are no very small fish up to 1 inch in size. He won't touch Shrimp Doctors. But maybe there are small shrimp, small brittle stars and fireworms.

She did great. Spent 6-8 weeks in my observation tank with the babi full of macro and pods. Of course she took her 2 week beauty sleep in the beginning.

I love the Novaculops genus but just never see them around. Halsteadi is by far my favourite of the genus but the adult males just don’t really do much compared to the females. This male is the nicest I’ve seen as I’ve only ever seen one male and that was fairly washed out.

Ok, I have a 75 with 40 breeder refugium sump. Stocking as of now copperband, two standard clowns and a bi color Blenny. I have Tampa Bay live sand, so no wrasse that needs sand. My most importantly qualification is must not stress my copperband. Any suggestions on a wrasse?

People have made some good suggestions here, but I’d personally cast a vote for a pintail fairy wrasse. Amazing colors, active swimmers, really fun to feed (zipping around looking cool), and (in my experience) incredibly peaceful.

My old guy years ago was pretty large, and was always conflict adverse. My current one is docile to the point I think the pink streaks could beat him up.

Here is another interesting and not often found in stores: Blue Nose Pencil Wrasse (Pseudojuloides kaleidos)
Very calm view, reef safe 100%. These two Males lived together for a long time and never had a serious conflict. They can swallow a large mysis.

I so would grab this one but with my aggressive guys I’m not sure a pencil will deal good with it. I need to think about this

And now I see you also have pencil and torpedo wrasse…
So tempting

This Pencil lived and lives with various aggressive fish.
But they don't pay attention to him at all.
Apparently he does not seem to them a competitor.
