Use an acclimation box. Will allow you to see any aggression beforehand and will reduce initial aggression significantly overall

Depends on the size of the box. Mine are massive and I could probably put 2-3 small fish in one. I got mine from octoaquatics.
Here’s one of mine with salt shaker for size.

Is Tampa Bay sand really a no go for wrasses that need sand?? I was under the impression it would still be okay. They claim it is, too. Here is a side view of my sand bed, the very bottom .75-1" is Ocean Direct, the top .75-1" is Tampa Bay sand. Thoughts?

I had a yellow coris wrasse and he would dive into the sand so fast, I figured the Tampa Bay sand was way too chunky and would cause damage. I also don't have a deep bed

Believe it was D2MINI's latest build where he used that sand and raked out all the big shells. Me personally I like to use a mix of live sand and special grade from Caribsea. Never had a problem with sandbed diving wrasses.

Naoko should be around a $100-110. LA are just a bunch of crooks and I quit for good after a bunch of dead fish. I got my Naoko through reefs4less.com which I believe is drop shipped by blue zoo in CA.

You are right. even reef pros has them on sale 59.99. I was shocked when I saw that price that why I was asking if someone saw some I didn't see.

I have a yellow & purple, a lubbock, and an orange back in with mine, and some other fish, and he pretty much ignores everyone. It's just the initial entry that's the problem.

I have a 4 inch melanurus that viciously attacks anything added to the tank, including nori. He even picked up several new snails and flung them across the tank. However, if I add stuff, including new fish, after he buries himself when the lights are out, everything is fine.

You just described mine exactly. I have a love/hate relationship with him. I have pretty much decided that he is going to a new home. (A 450.. quite the upgrade) My friend doesn’t care about a cuc. I do.

Unfortunately yes, I’ve had wrasses die by using similar substrate in my own tank.

You really want a fine sand (it doesn’t have to be truly fine) for the majority of your tank and if you want, I’ve had success in mixing larger sand in with my finer sand. My sand is about 3/4 truly fine sand and 1/4 a variety of more coarse sand.

My iridis shows some wounds from the sand but generally it’s not a huge amount and only 1-2 scales missing now. It used to be patches of scales that were lost but now I’ve made my sand finer it’s reduced it a lot.

This boy was the equivalent of $45.

He doesn’t have the best colours don’t get me wrong, I do want to try and boost his colours but he just doesn’t find reasons to display. My other fairies mind their own businesses and don’t display so I do need to see if I can get them to display more often (Mirrors don’t seem to work with my lot but I’ve not tried for a short while).

Thanks! Looks like I've got some sifting to do. Most all the larger shells did fall on top so I'll focus on getting all those out. The bottom layers I can see are all fine grains.
