I went through 3 of them. They all entered the apollo program. IME, they need a extremely peaceful tank.I have a lid and it tried to jump out many times, and I think one time it did some permanent damage. After that one jump it would only come out every few days for a very short period whereas before it was out all the time. It then tried to jump out the last time I saw it and I think that may have been the last straw
I agree. One of the prettiest cirhilabrus wrasses but so nervous. They need to be the only wrasse in the tank imoI went through 3 of them. They all entered the apollo program. IME, they need a extremely peaceful tank.
Sorry to hear, mine was the most peaceful fish I’ve had. Same with my iridisI went through 3 of them. They all entered the apollo program. IME, they need a extremely peaceful tank.
Well… perfect reason to get another tankI agree. One of the prettiest cirhilabrus wrasses but so nervous. They need to be the only wrasse in the tank imo
Right?! It’s very dark but it’s so pretty! We usually want color, but this looks nice! The subtle color scheme

Next trip over to my importer I will ask.@Slocke seems like there's exactly one C. rubeus in the online market (at LA). Where did your LFS get so many (and do they ship)? @Lbrdsoxfan you have an importer around Long Beach? Ever see any of these?
Also, what's the difference between C. rubeus and C. rubriventralis? I sometimes see the same stock photo used interchangeably.
Yeah, all the out-of-stock pages have them around $40-$60, so I figured they can't be too rare. But haven't seen any and been looking since March. Might have to call Tongs then.Next trip over to my importer I will ask.
I've seen one @ Tongs down in Westminister a few months ago, was only 40$.
Tong's wrasse game is usually pretty good but not as much lately. Southen hemisphere collection is always lame @ thistime of year till septish.Yeah, all the out-of-stock pages have them around $40-$60, so I figured they can't be too rare. I loved that guy because although he could hide in the background he was much like an Achilles tang with that signature bright red anal fin so you always knew where he was.Right?! It’s very dark but it’s so pretty! We usually want color, but this looks nice!
I can ask this week but I know my LFS won’t ship.@Slocke seems like there's exactly one C. rubeus in the online market (at LA). Where did your LFS get so many (and do they ship)? @Lbrdsoxfan you have an importer around Long Beach? Ever see any of these?

That bottom photo is actually Cirrhilabrus filamentosus.I can ask this week but I know my LFS won’t ship.
The difference is the number of long dorsal fins. Rubeus has two, rubriventralis has just one. Most fish labeled as rubriventralis are actually rubeus. I could only find two actually.
Then there is africanus which is very similar but with one only slightly long dorsal.
See. Rubriventralis doesn’t actually existThat bottom photo is actually Cirrhilabrus filamentosus.
I was about to say that lolThat bottom photo is actually Cirrhilabrus filamentosus.
That’s because people can’t identify them rightI sometimes see the same stock photo used interchangeably
