I know there is a harlequin shrimp in my 120, and last I knew there was a peppermint, but haven’t seen it in a while so might be wrasse food.

How many shrimp do you keep in your tank? Please share your experiences and any tips on the different types of shrimp that have (or have not) worked for you. Is twelve too many?!?!

Not too many. I have probably added more than a dozen over the years but how many remain is only known by the wrasse? I think I have only added Peppermint shrimp and imposters that were sold as Peppermint shrimp but the latter didn't eat any Aiptasia? So I got a Kleine's butterfly who may have been a Peppermint shrimp in a previous incarnation.

My fishes are hungry
especially my wrasse,
If you ask how many I have?
I'll just bray like an*

Between my refugium and tank, six peppermint shrimp, one cleaner and my wife's coral banded shrimp. Kinda hard sometimes to eat shrimp as I love the ones in my tank.

Does it eventually reach equilibrium or do you have to supplement feed starfish?
Not directed at me but when I had mine eventually I ended up having to supplement feeding. This was in a fairly large tank, 150g. I traded it at the lfs shortly after.

No shrimp. Yes wrasses. Makes it difficult to keep them when half the wrasses in my reef aren't actually reef safe.

150 gallon 2 skunk cleaners and 1 Harley in the tank in the sump 6 peppermint. That damm Harley cost more to feed a month then the entire tank. But that is ok because he is so beautiful.

I don’t keep shrimp anymore because they were too much of food thieves to my corals. They would steal all the food from the LPS. The corals were more important. I do really like shrimp otherwise

Can large Angels or Tangs make short work of such shrimp or are they too large?

Right now I do not have any shrimp but only just lost my old coral banded shrimp a few weeks ago. I plan to get more shrimp as I love their curious, inquisitive nature as they check things out. I have had cleaner shrimp, lots of glass shrimp ( although most of them were feeders for my seahorses).

Actually I do have an Atlantic pistol shrimp in my sump. He's a bad boy and eats my small fish so he got banished.

Multiple tanks and multiple shrimp.
75 G has a mantis and 3 peppermints.
40 G has a coral banded, blood shrimp, and a peppermint.

(edited out blame of shrimp death as I don't have 100% proof, only strong suspicions)

Just added three adorable Pederson cleaner shrimps to my 15g Reef display! These tiny wonders create cleaning stations, hosting various corals. Loving the unique vibe they bring to the tank!

Two skunk cleaner shrimp, one tiger pistol paired with a YWG and a Candy Cane shrimp in a 65g. While I love the skunks they make target feeding any other creature almost impossible! So I believe I will not replace them, once they are gone.
