Due to the seam failure of our 37 month old Reefer 250 we are trying to quickly put together a new tank for our mixed reef, our LFS had a 90g Seapora Reef Ready tank in stock so we are going with that. We only have this one tank as a reef we have been slow to get into coral tanks we have many fish only tanks in freshwater/brackish/saltwater.

We moved all fish, coral, sand, and rock into a 40g quarantine tank and everyone seems to be okay for now

I am taking the opportunity to finally try a roller mat going to use a Red Sea Reefmat 500 and see how it goes.

the fact that red sea had to update the new tank just because of the issue, and the amount of people that have reported tank leaks, red sea should be offering large discounts to their consumers with the older reefer tanks. Sorry just angry I have to see people posting pics of their tanks that have leaked, major oversight on their part and most of the time it seems like they are disregarding the fact that the silicone might hold up for an extra year or 2 but still failed because of their bad design

I planned and built the stand early this week. I used metal plates to put a piece of pine across the back so i can mount the doser, BRS carbon reactor, and mount a small piece of pvc for the ATO. We super glued a bunch of felt pads to the bottom to help settle the stand and makes it easier to move the stand when tank is empty. cut and super glued Amazon Basics 1/2" yoga mat on top of the plywood. And installed a LED bar light for inside the cabinet.

Purchased a Reefmat 500 and the sump this week as well. Divided the center section with some ridgid filter material for skimmer/fugeIlI only have about an 8.5" x 12" space for an ATO reservoir so am getting one custom made from Octo Aquatics, also ordering Octo lids for this tank.

It is frustrating indeed for a $2000 tank to not even make it to 4 years old. They arent offering us a replacement they are offering us $500 off a G2 tank... we are probably going to pickup a 170 or 200

Dude I love your sump! I have a trigger 36 with the skimmer in the same area and will put a refugium in the same spot! Do you have any other thoughts on this build?

Gets me excited to see it bc i want a reefmat in the same area but wasn’t sure about the dimensions.

got the plumbing all setup and the power bars and gfci in. putting the stand exactly where i wanted to left the outlet directly behind the stand leg so i purchased a slim outlet thing on amazon. plugged in gfci and mounted Kasa smart bars and ran all the plumbing lines. not the most beautiful or advanced job but should be functional for years to come. used soft tubing, added a spears return check valve in the return pipe and setup a Stockman Standpipe

Hey, I have a very similar setup! Pretty much the same thing, except it's a standard 75g so a little shorter. Same sump as well. Thinking about getting the reef mat 500 too but I have 2 drains on my setup. How tight is it? Would you suggest I put a tee right before going into one inlet? Don't know if plumbing for both inlets would make a difference.

its pretty tight but not bad, you probably could plumb into both sides if you turned the whole Reefmat 500 90 degrees but that would make changing the rolls a PITA. I would just tee off right before the reefmat tube OR just run your primary drain into the reefmat and your secondary drain into a mesh style filter sock or just right into the sump. ive read that this method works fine with a roller

so have been leak testing and tuning the overflow for a few weeks. i ended up replacing the bulkheads that came with the tank to just standard ABS bulkheads so i could hard plumb in some unions. I also tried a Stockman standpipe and it seems louder than the durso that was included with the tank, so just going to run the durso for now. also my Octo Lids came in they are pretty awesome.

Really frustrated right now. Got an Ich outbreak, lost my powder brown tang, coral beauty angel and both oscesllaris clowns. Was able to get two pajama cardinals, Lawnmower Blenny, and Watchman Goby into a 40g quarantine and are on copper treatment, still have two stubborn pajama cardinals trying to get them out then we will go fallow for probably 90 days or so. Really not having a good time. We did add some new Brains, Zoa's and GSP that are all doing well. We have decided to use the promotional credit red sea is offering to get a Reefer 200 G2+ as a backup/secondary/coral QT tank

So there was two Pajama Cardinals and the blue spotted watchman goby that against all efforts we could just not catch. So I wanted to run the tank fallow but that's not possible. So everyone we could catch + some new fish we bought have all been in QT for 80+ days as well as they got 35 days of Copper power and 3 doses of medicated food with Kanaplex and Metroplex. All the QT fish have been off copper for about 60 days with zero signs of any Ich/velvet/brook of any kind.

Since we couldn't catch the three fish out of the DT and none of the three have shown any signs of illness in 80+ days we decided to add a UV to the tank specifically to target Ich and related diseases. Decided on a 15W Vecton Titan 550 flowing about 400 GPH.

After about a week running the UV we added the whole crew back including a Purple Tang we got for $70 because he had bad lateral line disease (which we mostly cleared up with daily nori feeding) and a Sailing Tang

Now that the Ich situation is theoretically "managed" I need to finally finish the stand skinning process
