why you take off most lens but not all lens for what purpose to do?
Increased spread slightly , kept some shimmmer and “punch” for the bottom of the tank for my clams.

No, it was 90 and 120 deg lenses. The white(120) and black(90).

I'm using a lens to protect the UV(390nm) chips. They degrade faster with "secondary" lenses.

Underneath that lens, is a softer layer. [I'm not sure what it's called?]

(above is my test chip)

I'm comparing longevity from a normal chip to a decapped chip.
If you remove that? do you lose the function of LED?? Can LED still work even though when you remove the LENS?

Removing the lens has no effect on the operation of the light. There will still be a lens on the LED itself. That LED is soldered to the board and cannot be removed without a soldering tool.

I wanted to get some opinions on modifying my WIFI BB. I'm trying to mimic the original SB Basic box a little better without changing out every diode.

Here's the original LED array I have now...

and the new layout...

What do you think of the spectrum/spread? Too much white in the center?
All of the lenses are 120 I have now. Should add some 90s?

Here's the basic I'm trying to copy....

Any other suggestions?

Personally, I would replace the 3500K with 6500K. I'm unsure of the PPFD this will produce and the mounting height above the waterline - these will determine the lenses used.

The light is 8" from the waterline and 24" to the sand bed. I'm also trying to cover 30" width so I'm thinking I may need use 120s.

I was helping a member here about led diode layouts for the Mars aqua black boxes, come to find out that the new ones that are being sold have a totally different board on them with different diode chips.

This will make them more difficult to modify. Thoughts?

Good thing I read this, getting ready to order new diodes!
