I want to share this pic with people who would understand. As you know I pulled the plastic plants from my 5 gal betta tank and went all live plants. While not exactly fitting in the with aquascape, I planted two annubias plants on the theory that the leaves would serve as a "bed" for the betta. Now I have never seen my betta on the plastic betta resting leaf in the two years since setting up the tank. Today I caught him taking a nice midday siesta....

i am a superstisious person, best fishin is at lowestbarometric pressure before and rt as the front comes through ;)

The Ocean and Sound are a lot easier. Moving water. 2 hours before the high tide and then the 2 hours with the outgoing tide. Of course you go to the beach on the low tide to check out the structure (sand bars, gulleys etc) that mother nature created since the last tide, and well why not fish the low tide while you are already there. And fish the full moon. And fish the morning. And fish sunset. And fish stripers and blues in the Spring. Fish the fluke in the summer. Fish the sea bass and porgies in the late summer. Fish the blues in the early fall. Then fish the stripers and black fish until december. Then fish the cod and ling in the winter. Fish the noreasters, fish the flat water. Fish before a storm. Fish after a storm. Fish the ocean, fish the canyons, fish the inlets, fish the bays, fish the rocks, fish the piers, fish from a boat, fish the birds, fish from a kayak, fish from a beach. Fish the lakes. Fish the ponds, fish the streams.

It's a good thing that over the years I have narrowed it down. :)

@Katrina71, learn to tie knots and just keep putting the line in the water. I've have high end custom rod, reels and lures as well as and ugly stick and basic lures, they all catch.

A cheap jig head with a plastic bass assassin seems to out-fish everything in my lure bag.

Local bait and tackle shops can be a reliable source of information. Don't chase internet reports. They are good for identifying trends, but fish are gone by the time you get there.

Many anglers keep a log. They note tides, moon, weather, time of day etc. Very important it to "match the hatch" . Mimic the bait in the water on which the fish are feeding. There will be patterns, so part of the fun is understanding these cycles. Keeping a log is a great way for a youngster to learn about fish habits and habitants.

Rinse the rod and reel off after every use, and learn how to open it up and clean it every few months.

Fishing with my youngest:

The kid picked the spot (based on his success at the above dock), set the strategy on his own and won a local fishing derby.

enjoy the journey
Great pictures, but that last one should be in a magazine. If you haven’t already, you should have that blown up to hang. Nowadays you can have it blown up on canvas. We had one done when Kendall was 2. It’s hard to tell from my pic, but having it done on canvas looks awesome.

I guess I need to unplug and move back to a small fishing community where people just rely on one another and take care of each other. I'm very confused by today's society.
We have an old motorhome my husband uses during hunting season. I told him we need to sell the house, redo the inside of the camper and find some small, out of the way town where this stuff doesn’t exist. People just helping people
