I forgot to mention that the substrate in that portion of my sump is Miracle Mud.
That would concern me I think, long term.

No. I have never sent in an ICP test on this tank.Have you tested for iron or metals?
Froze here last night it was under 30. He need factories and people driving. We need global warningHighs in the upper 60s-low 70s today down on the bayou. Cloudy. Storms blew through here yesterday afternoon and brought the cooler weather.
Black Jack paws at my head so he can get under the covers.I fed mine before I went to bed ;Smuggrin ...but yeah, not uncommon to be rudely awakened by being headbutted at 03:30. ;Meh

Thanks! That was my thought as well after looking at the pics. I think I can move one rock and get closer.I looked a lot, refreshed my drink and looked more!
Pic one left, the level between the two peaks makes it look flat imo, love the right, I want to see a dip there!
Having no problems, I wouldn't sweat it. Its likely iron to assist in algae growth. It is refugium substrate meant to assist in that type of filtration. I think, iron will only release so much into the water as it isn't very soluble. Not like the nickel and vanadium I had in my sand, and not really toxic. Be careful using magnet cleaners near there, but I wouldnt worry. There is not a known problem with the tank. I just noticed the shiny particles today. The mud has been in there for a year.

Yes. I also have the Caribsea Miracle Mud in my cryptic refugium along with a 6lb bucket of the now discontinued Walt Smith Fiji Mud.
I think I want to start collecting mud and stuff from the coast. Check out what I found last weekend at our boat ramp.
