Our local club is sponsoring a conference in Salt Lake tomorrow.
Mountain West Reef Fest and Scott Michael is one of the speakers, along with Jake Adams. They just stoped by at my house to see my tanks. I thought I knew quite a bit about fish and coral, but I dont know squat compared to these guys. LOL
Scott said I had one of the weirdest looking hippo tangs he's ever seen.
What do you think?
I've had her for almost 7 yrs now.

Mine also has the split tail...

It could be, my purple tang which I've also had as long has signs of HLLE.
I'll have to feed more diverse I guess. More algea sheets. And see what happens.

Afiend of mine had a hippo in a not so great setup (first tank), it came down with lat line, got rehabiltaed in a proper tank and had very similar markings after it healed up.

Great tank, wish I could get a bigger one, my nano has to do for now.

When I bought him 7 yaers ago he was very small and I only had a 65g tank. He would always wedge himself in the rocks at night to sleep. That's how I figured how he got this way. He's been in my larger tank now for over 3 yrs and grew quite a bit but has always kept his potmarks. He is very healthy and eats like a horse, he's just an ugly duckling. lol

May want to install a grounding probe or check for stray voltage then install a grounding probe if necessary. On the other hand if he once had it in the past the scar tissue remains and seems to stay... just like ours :)
