Dang! I'll say you made a purchase. Thats awesome. I've looked at those just out of curiosity but dong need one obviously.
If you're in the need for a skimmer I have a Nyos 120 that is essentially brand new. I used it for a month and then took it apart and leaned it and put it back in the box.
What ultimately made you change your mind from the peninsula?

Well this deal made me change my mind tbh. its 48in x 23in x 21 and I am gonna try and light it with 2 reefi uno pro 2.1's.
I have a skimmer but it might be to big for this tank so I will see as a Nyos skimmer would be cool with the Nyos tank

The tank was looking rather photogenic today so I decided to snap a few pics and actually got really lucky with the fish. My two most colorful wrasses stayed in frame long enough to get them together and I was able to get a somewhat decent photo of my Swissguard Basslet who is very cryptic.

That makes sense, can’t turn down a deal like that. Especially when there isn’t a huge size difference. I’ve read good things about the Nyos tanks so I’m curious to get your thoughts once you take delivery of it!

To be honest I never heard anything about the tanks as I just went and watchged a couple of videos. At 22in wide I dont thinkl I will notice that its not the 24in I wanted.

How much sand did you use? And what kind? I am not gonna wash sand cause those says are over
For sand I used the CaribSea Fiji Pink. I started with 40ish lbs an have added more twice since then. It's been perfect for me. It doesn't blow around with higher flow and it's easy to clean also. It comes with a packet of bio magnet that you mix with tank water and pour into the display to help speed up the water clearing.

It's good for my wrasses to burrow in and easy for the clean up crew to maintain.

During my water change this week I decided to completely clean off the back glass and rid it of Coraline algae. So far I'm liking the look as the fish and coral pop more off the black background. I also had to move the teal hammer colony to the right of the chalice somewhere else as the chalice was winning that battle. I also had to cut back the bi color hammer behind it as it was stinging the Monti frag to the right of it. I moved it forward just a bit aswell.

A rather frustrating Sunday update to say the least

Yesterday I went change the mat in my ReefMat 500 as it was almost out. The mat stopped because the sensor was saying it was empty which is normal. I go to work through the process on the ReefBeat app and it's not working. I have tried everything I cold try and that Red Sea recommends. Including completely resetting the ReefMat, deleting and re installing the app.

My old account disappeared so I had to make a new account. I am still completely unable to connect it to the app and set it up the way it's supposed to be. This is the message that keep getting despite verifying that everything is the way it says should be. I've reached out to RedSea support to get some help but I won't hear back from them Monday. Luckily I can manually advance the mat itself so the tank isn't at risk for anything but I want this fixed :confused-face:
I am wondering if it has anything to do with the CrowdStrike/Microsoft outage.

Quick little update -
The Blue Spot Jawfish has died. It didn't consistently eat food so therefore it didn't last long. Unfortunate but sometimes it just doesn't work out.

I've been trying to get a Lighting Bolt torch from TCK Corals but their auctions have failed multiple times to notify me that I have been out bid and they have no interest in helping me with this or sending me other photos of pieces they have available.

I'll be reaching out to some people that I know in Orlando to try and get my hands on a higher end Torch to "finish off" the torch mountain.

I am slowly increasing my Alkalinity and Calcium dosing to get the levels optimal for some acros. A buddy of mine has a TNT Anacropora piece he broke accidentally that is growning nicely that he's going to give me. Based on how that one does will be the determining factor on if I order more Acros and try one more ;)

So I've picked up the TNT piece that a buddy of mine was holding for me until my levels were ready. He also gave a me a Acro that was given to him as a freebie but it was one he already had so lucky me.
The surprise in all of this is that I have also picked up 8 RBT anemones from him. I have them in a box in the tank so they are isolated from the corals. I've always wanted to keep anemones and even tried in my old tank (failed). Im planning on either keeping them in the box in this tank as an "extra" thing to look at and they add a different color. The other option is to get a nano tank and just have nems in there and get a clownfish pair.

I'm also thinking about re-homing my Kole Tang as he has gotten fairly large and I would like to add some more wrasses. Im afraid the bio load would be too much so the biggest and least colorful fish would get a new home.
