I got this Scribbled Angel over the weekend. It only has one eye, so it's a rescue of sorts, but it swims fine, eats fine and none of my other fish bother it. It had been at the LFS for over two months and nobody wanted it.

Starting to turn male too. Should only be a matter of time once you have him fattened up.

Hello Angel enthusiasts, is there anywhere I can find a good read that talks about over angel care, selection and species. My GF is really getting into salt but loves the fish more than the corals. I think down the road i'd like to setup and FOWRL tank with a focus on angels but I don't know much about them.

Any help would be appreciated.

you like what angel fish?

I currently don't have a preference, we see all the usual suspects at the LFS, emperor, queens, flames, flame backs, potters, coral beauties. But obviously some of the more exotic ones i've seen throughout the threads wouldnt be out of the question. I guess i'm looking more for a guide on what angel is what species, which ones mix well together. General practice for adding and potential order. Success stories on keeping them with corals, what foods, vitamins and dip procedures people use.

Re-reading that i'm looking for a lot unfortunately, almost like an idiots guide to Angels and their care.

The kind of angel mix depends your tank size. How big of a tank are you planning to have?

I know this is the I love angelfish thread but I hate angelfish. This is the only angel I had and he was a butthole. I grew him out by himself and a few mummichogs for ~8 months. Once I put him in my main tank he killed my miniatus grouper and attacked every other fish in the tank. The fish got the boot after 2 days. Never bought an angel since.

That's a majestic, not a blueface. It's usually the lesser aggressive angel. I wonder how big the tank is and that could be the reason for his aggressiveness.

It was 265 gallons and the tank mates were about the same size plus or minus a few inches. You are right, I think I will try a dwarf angel for my small tank. Once I get my larger system in place I am going to get a queen angel. They are my favorite angel.

Oh don't tell me that! My majestic was just introduced into the rest of the fish population. So far so good and he's not being a butt. I actually had to isolate my flame angel because it chased him relentlessly. Hopefully they will be friends down the line once they get used to each other a bit more.
