Thanks Helene for destroying my life

Ok maybe not “my life” but my tank was my life and my way of dealing with my wife’s cancer and all the BS that comes with it. RIP reef tank! You gave me 15 years of relief of stress and made so many people happy over the years and even hooked a few people alone the way.
After loosing power and water for 11 days I could not fight the battle anymore. My beautiful tank turned into 70 gallons of acid water after all the deaths. I had things I could never replace. Even had a coral from Jake Adams that was my pride and joy, boy I miss him!! I have never had to shut a tank down because of a crash. I can hardly look at these pictures anymore. So goodbye R2R you were great! I don’t think I have the heart to do this again and I definitely don’t have the money too. So dang sad yall. I have no more tears or words!

I would love to afford to start over but I need to save for my wife’s cancer meds. The state axed out health insurance in June and it’s been outta pocket or bill me. Prob over a million in debt now since January when we found out. She can’t work either because the melanoma spread to her hip bone and spine. She can hardly walk and is always in lots of pain! The crappy thing is I need this tank more than ever and she’s gone

Thank you and yea it was a lobor of love and I like to think it showed! I have been reefing since 2001 and I was at the top of my game. I had so many corals that meant something to the family. Several memorial corals and corals from special trips and gifts from people that are long gone! We are blessed to make it out of this but it still hurts my soul

I lost everything in a hurricane in the past. 6+ days no power did it for me. I relate. My advice - keep the tank online and stable. Good water. Forget about coral for now. No feedings, no coral, no lights, no fuel for algae. Just let things balance out and stabilize for a few weeks
