And it absolutely wasn't my idea either- we all stand on the shoulders of giants. I just wasn't sure if you would recognize the user name!
Were you running off of a boiler or a tankless?

The big difference I believe, would be the tankless could operate as a closed loop for the fluid running through the water heater independently from the house. That's not going to be the same with a boiler, in that case I assume it would work as a zone.

Ok, I have the water heater. I work for a plumbing heating and air conditioning shop. So I was patiently waiting until we pulled one out. This one is a 2-year-old. It came out of a house that a competitor had installed incorrectly. The customer had enough. He now has a nice Norris nrc111 and I have this.

It's non-condensing but I don't think that's an issue where it's going to be installed.

I will be running gas maybe this weekend or next weekend. This unit requires a 3/4 inch line so I'm going to come directly off the meter.

I'm also considering using this for the heat exchanger. It's a titanium heat exchanger for refrigeration, but it's a half inch with 5/8 exterior so I figure I can just pro-press a standard fitting onto it once I cut off the refrigeration flare fittings.
