My take is we dont decorate the ocean, so I leave mine natural.
I placed lights around a 360g I had 5 years ago and when they went on, the fish flew around the tank like a pinball in a pinball machine - Never again

I don't decorate my tank, it would just get in the way of messin with it. I barely decorate the house. We used to put up a tree, but we had an 18 lb cat, and another active cat, who chased each other up and down the tree - after riding it down a few times, we ended up using wire and screws to secure trees to the wall.
After I started rehabbing raccoons, as cute as it was watching them climb the tree, we eventually just hung decorations from the ceiling with ribbon and tacks, and strung nice, safe popcorn for the tree. But seriously, there are trees outside year round... We stopped buying trees.
Now I just play with my tank.
