Hey my friend! First of all congrats on wanting one of the coolest creatures in the trade. Give this guy nooks and crannies. They don't really need big caves, but they like nice ledges and shady holes to duck in and out of. They can be almost eel like in the way they move across your reef. I'd suggest a sandy bottom. My tailspot prefers mysis and good quality pellets. He still loves to tug at the occasional algae and will pick it from his side of the magnet scraper and the rocks. These fish have the most intriguing face and personality. What say you oh tailspot great one @kevgib67

As my friend John stated all they need is small nooks and crannies. Mine sleeps in a hole in my rock and when not out and about he sticks his head out surveying the tank and watching for any signs of trouble so that he can jump into action if needed. They are very peaceful and I added mine to a tank with 6 very established fish with out a problem. It is the smallest fish in my tank but has the biggest personality!

Thanks Kevin! I couldn't agree more. There's so much personality tucked in this little guy!

I am planning on getting a tailspot blenny, however my tank is only 25 gallons and I want to make sure that he has places to hide. Is there anything that I can buy for the little dude? Open to any suggestions
TIA :)
Having plenty of hiding places and perches available for the little guy is key. Also I have had one jump out of the tank so be careful, possibly have a cover or lid of some kind. They are great additions to any tank!

Hey John, it’s the only fish I went over the top with.

don't u have aggressive fish in your tank as stated in your earlier threads?
I suppose I have some that people consider aggressive, clowns, yellow tail damsel and a wrasse but in my tank they are all peaceful. Just under two years ago, after they had been together over a year, my female clown turned on the male and killed it. I don’t know what triggered this tp happen. The male was replaced and I haven’t had any problems.

I sure they would be fine together unless, like any other fish, the tailspot tries to enter it’s cave, it will be chased away. I’ve seen where peaple have put barnacle shells in the tank for their tailspot.

I took it a step further and covered the Barnacles in GSP. I also have one I just glued a Cyphastria frag onto.

Where did you get the single barnacle from? I’d love to make something like that
They came with a 55 gallon aquarium that I acquired years ago and no longer have. I assume we could probably buy them off the Internet, but I have never looked. Good luck they are fun and look good in the tank.

Nice! I was just telling my wife that I’d like one for my 25gal. I need to rehome my aggressive clowns first. Love those tailspots!
