They are pretty big. At least 15cm in diameter. Edible ones. But haven't tried :p (more common to eat urchins in Southern Europe I think. We prefer our pickled harring ;)).
ooooooo, sushi. Yum, yum

Hate to say this, but in 2015 had some neighbors move in our neighborhood, from Palau. They offered me parrot fish as sushi, it was really good. :)

Sea urchins look hugh, are they? Nice
Don't forget save me a brick to donate, toward new aquarium
I'll adopt your urchin, can't guarantee I won't eat him, if I come visit my new child from the sea.

Built a stand for the calcium reactors, painted it, carried one reactor in and put it in place, cleaned lots of coral gravel and home grown coral branches and filled up the reactor, filled it with water and turned the internal pumps on and it sounded terrible, emptied the reactor, took apart the pumps, broke one impeller, found another one, broke that one too, went home.

It happens to everyone and, considering what you do with what you have, I am surprised you do not have more days like along these lines. Chin up!

Map looks great David! But I can only count 5 tanks? Do you plan space to run contemporary glass tanks (like the 3 "small" predator/symbiosis/etc tanks from the previous setup? Fun to tag along on your ride, thanks for posting so often!
Cheers,
Leon

Thanks Leon!
Yes, we will have plenty of smaller tanks. But they aren't in the drawing because the drawing is for the public procurements(for the building). We will do a procurement for small aquariums later when we have all plans and drawings for the exhibition. We're still working on that :)
Therefor the only aquariums on the drawing so far are the ones built in(with concrete walls) and the tank in the classroom.

The walls and the floors are like Swiss cheese due to all pipes that will go from the larger systems out to places where we want to be able to connect small tanks :)

Day three working on the calcium reactor! I got two internal pump working, dosing pump works, Lasse fixed and calibrated a pH probe, but instead every valve and connection are leaking now :D
Glued two valves now, the last test before I redo all pvc pipes without valves..

This is why I don't want to turn pumps or filters off! This calcium reactor has been working fine for three years before this ;Bored

Tomorrow is the last day before my vacation. I won’t touch anything(because if I do it’ll just break and I have to stay an fix it :D).

Here are some top down pictures from tank 1 in temporary system 2(short name is KS1-1 ).
Most of our soft corals are in here. But it’s also some frags made by our visitors at the closing weekend event in September. As you see I’ve got a lot of sorting left to do..
The tank is 6 x 1 x 0,3 meters.

All lights for this tank are non-coral aquarium lights(borrowed green house leds), if you think the colours are a bit odd compared to a regular reef tank :)

Have a great vacation!

Hey - there's a guy looking for some input on underwater buffers/sanders. I do not know if you use them but, in case you do, here is his thread...

Happy midsummer!
Today all Swedish people eat pickled harring and potatoes :)

Yesterday me and my family visited the aquarium Atlanterhavsparken (the Atlantic sea park) in Ålesund, Norway. I've been there before and I really like this place. Not only a great aquarium exhibiting the marine habitats and species of Norway, but also the location of the park next to the sea. If you go outside you see the ocean and mountain tops with snow at the same time.
The maintank is super cool. 4 million litres and no roof, so the tank gets sunlight all day. This together with unfiltered sea water mean it's just like a small ocean bay, kelp and anemones growing just like in the ocean outside the aquarium. Those of you who tried growing kelp knows how hard this to get in an aquarium..

So I recommend everyone to visit:)

Here's the view from the top of the island Godøya, across the water from the aquarium.

Still on vacation, so no news from the Aquarium or the rebuild at the moment :)
