how do you like your refugium light?

I really like the CheatoMax light. Yesterday I harvested a huge lump of chaeto about the size of a basketball. It grows really fast.

Sure. Anything in particular you want to see? I haven’t been running my carbon or GFO reactors lately, so they are not in these photos.

Here's a quick top-down video this morning. Excuse the gurgling sound, it was during feed mode so my return pump was only running at 1%. But with the powerheads off, it's a nice view of the corals from above.

Where do you have the output of your UV sterilizer terminating? Is it plumbed into your return line to your DT?

Where do you have the output of your UV sterilizer terminating? Is it plumbed into your return line to your DT?

Yes, the UV is in line with my return. You can see photos of the whole manifold setup here:


The COR-20 pump feeds a 3-valve manifold for reactors, then it goes into the UV before connecting to the Red Sea return pipe. I have valves on the input and output of the UV, and a bypass valve so I can divert water straight to the tank when I need to do UV maintenance.

Curious...what wiring do you going into the freshwater side of the mixing station? Just trying to decide if I need to cut the hole for the uniseal on the fresh water side or if its not necessary....just a smaller hole to have fresh water going in like you've got and then another for fresh back out if I decide to automate ATO with a pump to pull the fresh back out.

The 3 wires on the RO/DI storage tank are for 2 optical sensors (low and high), and the ATO pump.

Oh I hate red bugs. They DID impact my corals when I had them.
(successfully eliminated with whole tank medication)

About a month ago I noticed a small patch of algae starting to grow from a fork in my WWC Yellow Tips colony. Over the past several weeks, that patch started growing wider and I realized it was losing tissue which gave the algae a foothold.

Today I decided I needed to take some action because the colony was losing tissue faster each day. I managed to salvage about 10 frags ranging from 1" to over 3" and placed them on a frag rack right next to the original colony so the lighting will be similar. I'll keep an eye on these frags and the rest of the colony to see if the damage continues to spread.
