I wouldn't worry just yet about one little patch but do work on it. Dinos are in every tank.Only POV where you can see it. Clearly dinos and not diatoms.
Yeah it is quite a low flow areaCould be a dead spot or low spot for flow
I did eventually add more fish and the increase in bioload does helpWell i already have nutrient raising products on hand so i think i'm going to use them slowly. Maybe i need more fish. What do you think about running the skimmer half time maybe ?
Then it will naturally be prone to developing thereYeah it is quite a low flow area
Oh man thats a bummerThen it will naturally be prone to developing there
You might be able to adjust lockline return to point a little closer to that area. Water bounces off surfaces so you don’t need to hit it directly. Just get more flow to that area and it could helpOh man thats a bummer
Totally get it. But if you are strategic with it, I think you can tweak things without too much of an impact. For example, put it on a timer so it turns off for a few hours in the afternoon when your pH is at its highest point and make sure it is on overnight when pH and oxygen levels are decreasing.Well i do have quite a big skimmer fro my tank size. But i’m bot really a fan of turning that down as it does play a role in ph and oxygen
I don’t know who you’re talking to but i only have a skimmer. So what thousands of dollars are you talking about ?I must have ended up in some alternate dimension where people spend thousands of dollars on reef equipment to lower inorganic nutrients to combat nuisance algae. Then when they appear, which they always do if you have bare surfaces and at least one fish, they add the stuff they are trying to remove. I must have chosen the BLUE pill Morpheus!!
