Hey guys! I'm wanting to add a spotted garden eel to my tank.. But before I do.. I would like some input, ideas and opinions.. Has anybody ever had one? Are they safe in a reef tank, can I get just one or do I have to have more than one?? Will it do good in my 37gal?? Are they expensive? Where can I find one?? Thanks guys!!

they are neat creatures, but i know very little about them, besides the eat zooplankton, like copepods.

this article was very good, might want to check it out.

Great article, thanks for the link!
My wife and I fist saw a garden eel tank in Atlanta LFS after visiting the Ga aquarium, but we have never attempted to keep the species. They are a very cool creature, please keep us updated if you decide to get some!

Cool creature that has very specific care requirements that are difficult to maintain in an aquarium. You need a very deep sand bed which can introduce problems long-term and frequent messy feedings. I'd only attempt it in a species specific tank and only if I were an advanced hobbyists. I have seen them offered rarely for sale at one location.
