thank you, what would you recommend to put in the first and second chamber for filtration?
I personally got the InTank media baskets, but that is the expensive option and I asked for at least one of them for Christmas :upside-down-face:

They're great media baskets, but there are half a dozen other options on etsy that are 3D printed if the $50 price tag (each) is a bit stiff for you. Search for the evo 13.5 on etsy and see what comes up, people have made an entire -thing- out of modding this tank.

I know that there have been threads about this, but I'm hoping for answers directly.

I am wondering if I should buy the sicce 1.5 pump and put a dual nozzle 1/2" RFG on it. This would be the only flow maker that I would have in my tank, I would get rid of my powerhead and just have this, to any knowledgeable reefers out there, is this a good Idea? Or should I pair this with a powerhead?

FYI, I have 11 corals of mixed species and types, along with 2 clowns and a goby- pistol shrimp pair

As always, thanks for any helpful info!

There is nothing wrong with the standard pump and filtration.

I tried a Sicce pump and then put the original back as it made no real difference.

Only thing I 'd recommend is a wavemaker (I use a Nero 3) for some counter flow.

It's tempting to spend money on upgrades and every vendor out there would like you to, but I don't think it makes any difference.

The magician not the wand :)

My Evo is mixed reef going on 3 years old now. SPS are happy, LPS are happy, fish are happy.
Just dosing AFR ~25ml per day.

Also should I get the single 1/2" RFG nozzle or the dual?
Honestly - for that size tank, a single 1/2in RFG, driven at 350-400 GPH (or more) , pointed diagonally across the tank and submerged about an 1in below the water line will flow that entire tank.

To get the same kind of movement out of dual 1/2in RFG setup, you will need at least 650 GPH. the Sicce 1.5 with dual 1/2 RFGs would be underwhelming.

At 350-400GPH, a single 1/2 will create a flow pattern comparable to a strong wave maker.

That not to say dual 1/2in Setup wouldn't work - it just would not as effective. Of course, if you go singe you can always upgrade to a dual setup in the future, with just a few extra parts.

would you say that AFR is a reasonable investment?
