Hey guys

I’ve had the Fluval evo set up for a while now and everything is going well minus a few hair algae outbreaks which have thankfully been chomped successfully by the turbos! I want more flow in the tank because I have an apparent dead spot where food tends to settle and also the pellets sink fairly quickly and the clowns don’t move far from their rock to catch them quick enough before they hit the sand bed!

I got a sicce nano voyager 1000 powerhead and it’s way too strong! My clowns won’t come out from behind the rocks and my corals have shrivelled right back

I’ve tried it along the top to reduce disruption lower down but the flow is still kicking everyone to the kerb! The sexy shrimp are not impressed have you guys got a good recommendation for a fairly cheap (this one was £26) powerhead for the Fluval? Or any suggestions on how to stop this supposedly nano powerhead turning my tank into a whirlpool? The box says it’s for tanks from 30L so I don’t get why it’s so strong in the Fluval! Send help!

the voyager nano 1000 is only 270 gph, that is 20x timeover which is not big deal at all. Believe me, its not too much for fish, they are able to swim against ocean currents if they want too.

Its one of the smallest powerheads you can buy. I don't know what else is smaller except maybe those tiny sun-sun powerheads from amazzon.

I run 2 voyager nano 2000's (530 gph each) on my 15 gallon softie tank (mushrooms and zoa's) just to give you an idea (plus the hob filter flow). I aim my powerheads upward to agitate the water surface and help oxygenate the water.

Right that makes me feel much better! I did wonder if they just needed time to adjust but the poor clowns were tryna get behind the rock work as if they were trying to avoid the flow my Kenya little Kenya tree started shrinking too! Do you think I just need to play around with it to get the best spot?

I think the fish might have been surprised or startled, but they will adapt to it. Trust me, they will even like it, fish will surf in the powerhead flow, it gives them something to do for a little while lol.

The kenya tree should not be in direct flow, so will need to find the good position for it, but even the coral will go through a little acclimation because the flow has changed, it might be grumpy for a day or two but try not to stress, which I know is not easy lol. If your still worried in a few days then come let us know. Good luck

Which Evo, 5 13 or 32.5?

I used a Jaboa SOW-4 in my Fluval 9 gallon. It was positioned in the top corner of the tank. On low/lowest setting I got good flow without disturbing the sand bed.
