Finally introduced my East African dussumeri tang after 8 weeks QT. Things have gotten a little hairy at times but hybrid is finally mellowing out and they’re all swimming together.

Well, I went to a conservation heavy sea life centre on Wednesday and just wanted to show off their (fat) tangs that many of us wouldn’t be able to keep in groups or even just to maximum size. For some sense of scale the tank was Atleast 20’ in diameter. The yellowfin (A. xanthopterus) must have been a good 3’ long and 12-15” when looking at it head on.

I saw this tiny,1.5 inches, guy at the LFS. Is this an unusual coloration or due to stress and health?

Looks to me like it’s maturing from juvenile to adult and starting to show it’s colour change depending on its behaviour/feeling.

Looks like unusual coloration but most juveniles start with heavy yellow on bottom, followed by yellow at bars then to upper dorsal

He is tiny, between 1-1.5 inch. I never seen Sailfin Tang this small before. I never look too closely into Sailfin since I think they are going to be too large for my tank. Is this a Zebrasoma veliferum or Zebrasoma desjardinii?
Thanks. I really consider getting him but finally decided to leave him at the store. I think he is a Z. veliferum
