I’m a less is more type, I’ve since added a skimmer but not much has changed.

I took a couple fresh pics from tonight, vs the last one just after initial setup, I added the skimmer, and a hob filter as a turf scrubber and a couple mangroves, and a fan for the summer heat

Used to have a lot of the electronics underneath the tank but after having to tear it down last year I built a side cabinet for most of it. Also pulled out the UV, GFO and bio pellet reactors and now carbon and neonitro dosing and the tank seems much happier for it. Just picked up a ton of frags from Reefapalooza so hopefully in a year it’ll look like something.

My ultra high tech setup…

Water in on the right, straight from the tank into the filter sock. Flexible tubing, no valves.

Top right is my doser… 500ml bottle with an air hose set up to siphon, with a knot in it to keep flow to a drip. I alternate calcium and alk each day.

Bubble magus 5 skimmer.

Super basic ATO with an Evian bottle.

Center chamber is rocks and macro under a light. Water comes in from below and percolates up through the rocks. Also houses heaters.

Return chamber on left also houses an intermittently used carbon reactor. The small funnel and tube is for feeding - drop pellet food in there and it pumps it up to the tank where it gets blown all around for the fish to chase.

Return via dc pump. Flex tube, no valves.

/plugs, controls and so on are in the HVAC room behind the tank.

That's AWESOME! Maybe the best control panel I've seen! In the process of moving my sump, too - same reason, but nowhere near the level you've taken it to.
For me - 90 gallon display, wanted better access and a refugium to level out the pH swings. My sump is 3 chambers, including the refugium. The new sump lives under a custom cabinet with removable countertop.

I mounted the dosing pump on a pull-out rack, with a cable-drag to manage the tubes and power.

My display is an old iPhone that's attached to the panel with Velcro with the Apex Fusion app permanently open.

2 big learnings - cable management is a bear, and you need more space than you think! My panel is mounted on hinges so that it can be swung out to access the cables and power bricks, and so that it stays in place when the counter is pulled out from underneath. At the moment, extra cable length is bundled together with cable ties, but I'm not sure if that's the final solution.

Lots of great ideas in these threads - keep them coming!!
Thanks! The panels are all custom built taking inspiration off the Adaptive Reef ones. They didn’t have anything in the size I needed so I bought a sheet of HDPE and built it myself.

It hinges open on a piano hinge and is kept closed by a couple of clean looking push button hood hold down latches. I got the HDPE cut to specs from a plastic supplier but I had to cut all the holes the wires run through and get everything mounted. That was a huge mess but a router and some big forstner drill bits and I got it done.

I used 1/2” sheet and it seemed a bit wobbly but once it was screwed to the wall, it was ok. The hood latches really helped to tie the frame together. Without them the doors would hang crooked. Also, with the weight attached to it, I’m not comfortable just swinging it open so I have a tripod I use as a support when I have to work inside it. At least it holds everything and it’s easy access unlike my prior control box. Everything was designed around easy access and easy maintenance.

Definitely more modest than a lot of these, but here’s mine:

I recently got tired of the cramped space under the tank and moved everything to the garage which was right on the other side of the wall. I still have to get my UV back online and the reactor manifold plumbed but it’s doing fine for now.

I’m in SoCal so the heat is a pain but the chiller has been keeping up just fine and winters are mild so heating won’t be a problem either. The extra power cost is well worth the ease of maintaining everything in my opinion. I was initially worried about the CO2 but I bought a meter and it was actually better in there than in the house even with cars pulling in and out. I just need to add some ventilation to pull some of the heat out and let the chiller relax a bit.

That is a FANTASTIC setup you have.

Is it as clean and tidy behind the board as it is in front? Mine is definitely NOT but nobody ever sees that side of the board :face-with-tears-of-joy:

how do you like that kalk stirrer? I have heard 50/50 of people hate it and people love it but parts go out on it. Whats your experience been?

I have one as well. I've been running it for probably 8 months now I think. I have had zero issues. I use the kalk Avast sells though, not BRS or some other brand. I also rinse it out and scrub as needed, usually every couple of months.
