After 5 weeks the cycle is finally completed... I haven't touched the tank to remove any Algae or detritus since I've added sand...

First diatom bloom..

Diatoms def took full advantage along with a few other types of algae that I'm not exactly sure about...

Equipment has been continuing to break in... skimmer is def broken in pulling some stinky skimmate...

Along with my algae Scrubber starting to grow Algae with just 2 of the 4 led lights running... I fully expect there to be a growth explosion once nutrients start being added to the tank ...

In any case the time has come to do my 100% water change thru 3 consecutive 40 gallon changes

I plan to siphon the sand bed and manually remove any and all Algae/detritus that's left over...

Next will be adding CUC and first fish...

CJ you planning on quarantining your fish now that you have a bigger, much more expensive system? You can put the "hood tank" you had to good use as a QT. Just need an HOB or Sponge filter and some of the matrix from your DT and you are good to go.

Wouldn't use that 5.5 gal tank for Qt tank it's too small for tangs.... haven't decided yet to be honest. Depends on the type of fish I get if they are finicky I may Qt otherwise I'll just add them straight to the display

Tank has finished cycling and I have now added my first fish.... breaking all the rules and seeing how this works..

Stock list so far:
blue eye kole
yellow tang
powder blue
powder brown tanks
Flame angel
Yellow Coris wrasse

Still a lot more fish to add... I'll be stocking fish first then corals....

Tangs have been in the tank a week... so far it's going as well as I could hope. No one has killed each other ... alittle chasing but nothing more ...

Algae Scrubber is taking off and now I will run it at full power. Increasing from 2 to all 4 lights 24/7

@CJs Aquariums, I just ordered an SC Rimless 150 and it's been pre-drilled so I will be running the Synergy Extranl Over flow box along with an Algae Scrubber and haven't decided which one I should go with.
My friend who made my sumps makes them as well. Here is a pix of A Turbo Algae Scrubber and one from 320 aquatics. Probably going to lean towards the one from 302 aquatics TO BE HONEST.

Go with the turbo aquatics algae scrubber they are by far the best around and well worth the wait.

I wouldn’t use the turbo aquatics Scrubber because the led are not water friendly or submersible ... for that reason I’d prefer the Rain2 Scrubber

I’ve owned both. Ended up getting rid of the Rain2. I did not like the fact that the LEDs are not dimmable and thus, the perpetual bald spot in the middle of the screen. I just got my hands on a Turbo’s L2 Rev 4 ATS and the build quality alone is impressive. That, as well as the custom diode layout, heat sinks, dimmability and removable growth chamber makes me very exited to get this scrubber on line.

Good deal... I experienced the bald spot but it always eventually grows over...

Sure the other Scrubber works long as u can install it on a way that never allows it to get wet..

All means to the same end ... hope it has worked well for u

Haven’t been active much but just a quick update.. the tank is almost fully stocked with corals. 50-60 sps (majority) acro’s, a clam, diff euphyllia and even some leather corals.

All equipment is installed and being maintained by a apex 2016, Aquamaxx T1 Calcium Reactor, SCA 302 Skimmer and Santa Monica Rain2 Algae Scrubber

Currently Housing 14 fish and keeping nutrients very low on my system.

will be upgrading Lights soon and adding miracle Mud to my system....

Going into year two the focus will be stability and growth. year 1 was all maturing and stocking ...
