So I just bought another 55 gallon at Petco to make life easier when I do the upgrade .

question. What benefits are there to putting my new dry Marco rock after aquascape is done and letting it “cure” is that a waste of time for brand new bone dry dry rock??

I put my rock in a bin to cycle for 2 months (added 1 rock from old setup and some biomedia), almost completly skipped the ugly phase (just some diotomes in sand). So for me it was totally worth it! But i did it when i was w8ting for my new tank so had the time without the temptation to put it in the tank earlier

Added a carbon and gfo reactor! I’m using BRS ROX carbon and Rowaphos. The instructions for rowaphos say to use between two sponges but isn’t very clear on how much to use or how often to replace it. Any tips on quantity and duration for Rowaphos??
I would say that it depends of what your water tests gives u, no need for phosphate reduction if already low. I know it says on package that u should use it on new setups but i think thats a risk of getting problems with unwanted bacteria like dinos or cyanos.

I just set up the 55 gallon ! The rock structures are going to go in there for at least a month before I do the upgrade. Glad I bought the extra tank. It will make life way easier going forward

I am a beginner but would think that u can get big benifits from curing the rock. Partly because it has time to leach out stuff if there is something within the rock, but mainly u can get a nice seed with good bacteria that will help to outcompete algue and other nasties in the beginning. But u prolly need to ghostfeed a little to get the bacteria something to eat so they can establish

Things are moving along in the fish room ! All of my new rock structures are curing in a 55 gallon tank with some Jebao powerheads and heaters. I added ammonia chloride from Fritz and Microbacter Start XLM. I plan on leaving it in the 55 gallon for 2 months.

NEW GEAR!

I upgraded my protein skimmer to an AquaMaxx Cones-1 . Love it so far !

I got rid of all the cheap heaters and went with the Innovative Marine 700 watt (dual 350 element) and love this thing already

I added 2 BRS reactors with sicce pumps for Carbon and GFO

AND

Made room for/prepped for the my apex a3 pro / trident and DOS that are coming in the mail tomorrow. I finally found a use for my old IPAD!

wow looks great. Am exited to follow this build
It’s getting very complicated lol but I’m trying to take it one step at a time and understand what I’m doing rather than rush through it ! I spent some time yesterday rearranging underneath the tank
