If it was your business, would take less? Would you be willing to take money out of your bank account, your kids college fund, your Retirment account so that someone else could buy goods a few pennies cheaper? I know we would all probably say yes when asked the question without the possibility of having to follow through, but once you own a business the decisions become a lot harder.

The price increase always falls on the consumer. Would it hurt someone at some point to take a bit less..were talking stupid money at a certain point.
in order to put ac in the delivery trucks? I'm not saying they should take less but it begs the question if bonuses were suspended 10% for one fiscal year in order to make the modifications necessary...would it hurt? I'm really just playing devils advocate about one issue and understand the needs of running a business as well. A 25 cent increase on all packages would increase revenue by
6 million a day...there's plenty of ways to accomplish things without anyone suffering much...if any. As a partner that had a $100,000,000 bonus cut to $90,000,00 for one year...could I still survive?...probably...is it fair?..depends on the eye of the beholder

I agree to an extent, but once you cross a certain threshold, loosing a 100k on your 2 million+ a year income isn't going to hurt.

I'm not trying to put an arbitrary number on it but point out there is a such thing as enough is enough.

Running a business is rough I'm not disagreeing.

Yes, and I did do this with my company before we were bought. I was the least paid out of all my contractors and employees. My last year before we merged we did over $800k in sales. It's not a lot, but the wealth can easily be spread throughout a company.

Just because you can make 150x what your employees make, doesn't mean you should.

I love devils advocate. Some of the best conversations are had when people actually have to logic and reason through counter arguments.

Most of the stupid bonus numbers are not actually salary. They are due to stock price appreciation. People get options that execute at a certain price...if not, they are worthless. So how much money is given to the CEO is usually pretty fixed but that stock market boom is insane. On the other end, you could be the best CEO in the world and get bupkis in a recessionary environment. Imagine all of those fat cat CEOs who had options valuate on March 2020 right when covid hit.

Someone else suggested 'why not cut salaries of managers'. We just went through layoffs. One of my managers actually suggested this. not only did HR say, you cant do that...none of the other managers were willing to get their pay cut. They were more willing to face the guillitine by themselves than shared sacrifice.

There are definately ways to pump monies back into the business and perhaps a financial benefit if profit margins are increased through said investments. Lamens terms...a 10% bonus cut for one year and the money used from said cut is evaluated in terms of what it increased the viability and margins by having happy employees. Thusly the margins could be split and redistributed to the people who took the cut. I know this sounds like visions of grandeur but there are people far smarter than I that could figure something out. I'm just using the bonus cut as an example btw and understand the fine balancing act of keeping investors happy with returns and profit margins that make them comfortable to continue investing. It's just in the scheme of things the money needed in order to meet the demands isn't far fetched and or unattainable in a profit crippling manner to the company. I'm just saying all this because I obviously have the answers to all these problems...lol

I know that I am making less money this year than last whereas my employees actually got raises and bonuses. I can personally tell you that not ONE of my employees appreciated the fact that I am making less money this year while they are making more. I only got people complaining that they did not receive a bigger raise.

I too have seen this happen unfortunately. People usually want more no matter what they get. I definately don't have the answers. I mean...just 10 trillion of those war dollars could have probably helped things out at home a good bit...but that's another issue. I'm by no means some bleeding heart "we all deserve" something person...just feel there are some easier and more appropriate ways to go about things in certain aspects.

Question...would opening my corals at 5PM vs 12PM sound like a problem to people? I may be out of my house for a few hours and need to find out if I need to teach the wife on how to accilimate my new buddies.

I would think they'd be OK. I don't think they'd have any adverse affect from a few more hours. I've had a shipment delayed that arrived at 6 instead of noon. All our corals were fine.

I can only depend on hubby to open box and float them in tank/sump until I get home. It rarely happens. If it happens, I'm only away 2 -3 hrs max
