Working on nano today. Things got out of whack and algae everywhere on most of the rocks. I hit it with Fluco and cuc is starting to make some inroads. Today is scrub the rocks day.

Heh, yeah, thank goodness it’s only 22 gallons. I’ve done full scale scrubbing with the 60 and that was a pain.

i’d love to get some of those zoas to my nano but i’m a little nervous. do y’all have any tricks for keeping zoas from melting? i have this pattern where a colony will grow a ton and then half of it will die back, the polyps just shrivel and die. no visible predators. i suspect something bacterial but am nervous about antibiotics.

gonis are so much easier lol. lowkey thinking about phasing out zoas and just making it a goni garden

My guess is that it isn't bacterial, since you do 100% water changes, I think it is flow. Zoas will grow and they need flow to clear the detritus that accumulates between polyps. Even with a ton of flow in my tank, I have to turkey baste the big colonies to clean them out.

i’m actually talking about the zoas in my nano, a fluval evo 13.5…zoas grow just fine in my pico/reefbowl!

btw in the nano i do a 25% water change once every 2 weeks. all other corals (including other zoas) look fantastic. But individual zoa colonies get hit with a mystery melt periodically. i’m at the point where i might just stick to inexpensive zoas because i can’t be sure they won’t mysteriously shrivel up and die, it’s frustrating

I'm going to be giving them a chance and switching from algae barn. their Ocean Magic has seem to gone down in quality since I began first using them about a year ago. And also their customer service has completely disappeared. it seems like every time I order it's always very late like doesn't get shipped out for two weeks late. planning on placing an order for some Dinkins phyto today
