Interesting read and definitely makes sense!I was listening to a discussion about this the other day that was interesting. What happened to the movie star? Why aren’t there any new Tom Cruises? Well, the leading theory, in my opinion, is that there isn’t the consolidation of media anymore. Go back 20, 30, 40 years and you basically had tv, radio, print, and movies. For instance, if you had a hit song then it was hammered out everywhere on the radio, at bars, etc. The consolidated media was more focused and everyone had less options, so everyone’s attention was honed in on a particular song or movie, so the artists had their work amplified. However, in a post internet world, there’s exponentially more competition and content. Yes, this will allow a new artist to get more exposure than they would have historically had, which is good for them, but because everyone’s attention is spread thinner, you’re not going to get The Beetles or huge movie stars like a Tom Cruise. YouTube hit movies in particular because if you’re bored then you can just pop on a video on your phone. In 93, if you were bored, you’d go see a movie. TV is notorious for reruns which you get tired of, so running down to the local cinema was a great option.
Also, with streaming entering the scene, TV series gained more market share and I believe they took it from movies. We have some amazing shows out there that you can stream from your home, but shows tend to have larger casts than movies. So, you’re not going to see as many stand out actors because the story isn’t going to focus exclusively on a protagonist the way a movie will.
Anywho, I think it’s safe to say that the era of the movie star is over. There will always be famous artists, but I don’t think you’ll see another Tom Cruise again.
That is what she saidomg, yours is sooooo much more colorful than mine!!!
Guy Ritchie is a gangster name though.Gal Gadot
If you think about it though “Gal” is a terrible name for a girl. It’s like naming your son Guy.

I thinks shes using it in the wrong place.thanks
Interesting, my take on it is "everyone is Internet famous" and few are now trying hard to be classically trained actors. The younger ones that are, are immensely successful. For example, Zendaya can sing, dance, and act. Same as Anna Kendrick. Most of the old Mickey Mouse club people are super successful. People are trying to skip steps in their careers and then you end up with people like Addison Rae in "He's All That" as a reboot.I was listening to a discussion about this the other day that was interesting.
