Any advice for fussy gonis? Been this way for a few days. Doing nothing is not changing anything, oddly.

Can’t wait to see it! When I got started, the information I was getting was basically that I shouldn’t use live rock due to pests, but I see that I definitely should have now.
My opinion of that is that starting with dry rock to prevent pests is great for a fish only tank. However, if you’re going to put corals in, then there’s no way to keep all pests out, so why not just jump start your tank’s maturity with some Tampa bay live rock?

Exactly what I would do if I started over

I always start them on the bottom. I have 3 in particular that I have pretty high . Though it took a bit of time to get them acclimated to the higher par levels. You can see them in the middle top of this pic.IMG_0797.jpeg

They've been in the same spot since the tank started back in January though. Happy as can be till recently. I changed alk dosing brand, could it be something with that?

Truckin. Reef is kicking. Mostly happy. In life, Birth classes started, Bradley method, baby due in July.
So you're about to go from truckin to "finding sleep whenever I can spare a minutes" haha

Congratulations!

Out of curiosity, why do you acclimate to light? Is your PAR so high that your tank would be drastically different than where they came from?

To elaborate, those frags are coming from maybe 200 PAR, which is where they were farmed, so does dropping them in a 75 PAR area and slowly working them up to the 250 PAR you might put them in help or just cause more stress?

Creature yesterday after the "attack"

Creature today

Very subtle differences but it looks a little less "ok" today. Still lots of color and even some PE.

And because it's an @SBB Corals new thread, might as well toss out the Black Panther pic?

Plug is almost fully encrusted. I need to find his perma-home.

I need a PAR meter to be sure but using one of those highly inaccurate apps amd cell phone method, my par is much closer to at least 400 at the surface. And Shane said that his Gonis are in fairly low par if I remember correctly. And most of my Gonis have been from him.

I’ll miss the first days as I will be flying back from Cambodia but will be able to catch the weekend sale
The weekend is always the best especially for the games and deals on Sunday and auctions ending
