I was wondering that too, I've been brushing 'em off, but that little bit is stubborn. My snails were hitting it some yesterday.

Of course, it's probably there from dying flesh. Need a better pic. Sometimes it can look white because it's growing/basing..

I'll take it out this afternoon and do a good cleaning on the plug and remove it all. Should have done it sooner but didn't think it would affect it as much.

Worst case is.if it ins indeed stn slowly creeping up..you can cut the stalk off and reglue as a last ditch effort. Look closely for any bite marks from perhaps AEFW. I wouldn't think that's what it is but I keep a vigilant eye because thats the one pest you never want.
