As a dev myself cut em some slack, sometimes things pop up way down the road that are just really hard to work through and figure out

I hear you. My knee jerk reaction is that companies do stuff like this to try and force the customer to buy more, like the newest console. I'm sure it's more complex than that, but knowing how the gaming industry has changed these days, I don't put it past the companies leadership. I don't blame developers at all for things like loot boxes, pay to win, etc.
