Long shot here, but have a chance to pick up some sand that someone got from a couple reef tank tear-downs. They do not know if it is aragonite or not. I was thinking maybe it looked like Carib sea special grade, at least the first two pictures. I presume it’s reef safe if it was in someone else tank for a while?

Thanks

Even worse, alot of people like putting media from the ocean in their tank, it isnt a good idea, we arent trying to simulate the ocean, and what lives out there is absolutely not what you want living in your tank!

How is this any different than using something like instant ocean sand, or Carib sea ocean direct? Isn’t a lot of aragonite sand harvested from the ocean floor anyways? Or live rock??

I have had good success using Carib sea ocean direct so far in my first tank along with some copepods. I think the more we can put in from the ocean the better

Edit: I should add I think the sand has sat dry for quite some time, so it shouldn’t be carrying anything with it
