Looking for a new salt mixture for 10g packed/full mixed reef tank - 30-40+ different frags - about 1 years old.

Have been using Tropic Marine Pro Reef salt at 1.026 salinity and this stuff mixes up at ~ <7 dKh, Ca ~380, and Mg ~1200… doesn’t match the manufacture listed parameters and I am annoyed with matching parameters for each water change (~1g weekly). Not sure if I got a bad batch, but would like to switch regardless.. I have to add/correct parameters of fresh salt in order to match tank parameters.. I make 5g fresh saltwater each time and store for next water changes. (About 4 weeks worth)

I keep my parameters at:
Salinity - 1.026 (tested daily @ 9pm)
Alk - 8.5 (tested daily @ 9pm - hannah)
Ca - 420 (weekly - salifert)
Mg - 1350 - 1400 (weekly - salifert)

Just looking for something that is the closest to overall tank parameters. TIA!!!

Those parameters are exactly where the TM Pro salt should mix at. Maybe you were thinking of the classic that has higher ALK, the Pro has always been at NSW levels (7ALK)

Yeah you're definitely right. My Mg comes in a little low but alk is pretty much spot on. Regardless though, need to switch it up.

NYOS but I suspect something is up with your salt, your refractometer or your test kits. Especially when 2 of the major elements are testing low.

BRS usually carries it, just out of stock at the moment (which doesn't help you). However, they are my usual source for NYOS. Looks like everyone is out of stock after a few searches.

Another fantastic salt is ESV B-ionic which is in stock

Been happy with aquaforest reef salt, a synthetic that is icp batch tested that the user can check.

I chose a salt that was always always easily available, haven’t changed in 10 years.
