Some people really struggle keeping them..they have always done well for me. Would agree with having a mature tank though

gonis are pretty easy in a mature tank they just require some nutrients and not super clean tanks
I’m only at 5 months, but the tank has been very stable. May be a bit too clean though. I’ll wait for a more mature tank. Being responsible isn’t fun!

they also have really good products that you broadcast feed with so they can eat and a mature tank give you the ability to export the nutrients well and not worries about how much or little your feeding
