Hi,

I have an aqua one MiniReef 90 paired with a TMC Reef Compact 2500. This pump has a max flow rate of 2500 lph, I’ve toggled around with speed to try and find the best setting for less noise! The setting that’s best is 20% but could go to 30% if I had too!

My question is… Would pump being at 20% be okay for filtering a 90L tank, I have two power heads running also.

I run a 3100gph pump at 100% on my 300g. You want at minimum 5x tank volume turn over on return pump. So if having it running at 100% is too noisy, buy a bigger pump. Water Movement > noise discomfort IMO.

My tank is only 90l = 19.7g My pump is rated for 2500 lph = 550g

At 30% my pump should be shifting 750lph so by your calculations I should be more than okay.

I'm very new and I might be wrong, but. My pump sump 4-5 feet below the outlet/returns in tank. The charts and flow rates i see are about 20% lower at that distance/height. So the 750 may actually be closer to 600. (Which should still be ok).
