Love the blue acrylic edge

Agree, the blue edges stand out on these tanks. It’s actually glass and is low in iron which is why they look more blue than the usual green you might see in other tanks. The glass is called “opti-clear”. Thanks for commenting. :)

Here’s the RO/DI install and the tank being filled with water. Used an AquaFX Barracuda that I won from Waterbox. Later in the build I need to upgrade the water storage containers, add a booster pump to the RO/DI unit and add some more DI resin canisters.

Super impressed with how quiet this CADE tank operates!!

The tank gets salty with Quantum LPS Macro Probiotic salt. First time using this salt and loving it. Mixed clean and fast!

How can a tank so "empty" look so amazing? HA! Looks awesome!

Reef tank cycle… I chose to cycle with AlgaeBarn’s Nitrocycle, PNS Substrate Suace by Hydrospace LLC and Fritz’s Turbo Start 900.

Also added some more Fiji Pink Live Sand and MarinePure Ceramic Cubes to add more surface area for beneficial bacteria to colonize. I think this is hugely important when using a negative space aquascape (NSA).

All the details are in this video…

Cycle is almost done. Check the diatoms on the stache rock in the middle. Ammonia 0, Nitrites around 3 and Nitrates about 30-40. Main lighting was turned off as soon as diatoms were spotted and we’ll let it ride until the initial cycle completes.

The tank is cycled. Also took some Triton ICP-OES tests on the water. Working on some of the equipment and started hooking up the Felix Smart controller - love that night rider light.

Added the glass doors back onto the stand and also installed a TUNZE auto top off. The room is coming together for this build. Going to need some fish art soon. :)

Fish coming in from Biota tomorrow and coral coming over the next couple of weeks. Could not be more stoked. Enjoy some night time fish tank moods…

The “Yellows” are absolute pigs and I’m paying for it with the nasties. Usually I’d drop the light schedule, cut back on feeding etc while the ugly stages work themselves out BUT keeping this tang school happy is my number 1 priority right now. I enjoy watching them graze all that green hair algae.

The group is 10 captive bred Hawaiian Yellow Tangs. They range in size from 1.5” to 2.5” with 3 of them being bullied. At night they all sleep in the same area and tolerate eachother, during the day they act like a bunch of school kids at the park. lol

The bully of the group is named “Bruno”. He’s about 2” and isn’t the largest but he is missing a scalpel when he faces to the right.

Loving these fish!

I’m so inspired by your tank. You reignited the passion. Looking forward to upgrading my tank to a CADE. slowly selling all my current equipment. WooHoo!!
Thank you for the kind words! Very encouraging! Appreciate you taking the time to stop and comment. :) Congrats on your new path to a CADE.
