They can come in on almost anything

I have tried dry rock before, utter fail. Never again

If one can't take that risk[worms on real rock], a different hobby is probably a better deal for one

Definitely agree! You just have to embrace some of the pests, and add good quality LR. Try to keep the corals so that you can remove them for dips or treatment. Try to avoid what’s possible and work through each situation as it arises. Pests are going to get in. Many of these things are microscopic and near impossible to keep out. You just need to deal with them one by one.

So it’s Day 7 in the restart. Ammonia rising. Nutrients rising which I want initially. Will knock it down when I’m ready after the cycle is completed. Water is clear. Tank is progressing as expected. Will update with video or some pictures soon. If the Aussie rock test results come back poor, I’ll add some KP rock in here to help the tank along.

This thread is just getting started and there is so much to like already!

I’m gonna take a YouTube video tonight, just to show what’s kinda going on at seven days. Not a whole lot, of course. But there is a little bit of brown, and some green algae starting to form because of the phosphate level is elevated which again I love. It’s much better to be higher in a new tank initially vs the rock binding all your phosphate.

And the prep work begins for the new scape.

Ammonia is now zero.

Here is all the rock spread out that I’ve selected to build the new scape with.

Fragments are very helpful to fill small
Gaps.

Breaking it up for NSA. Can’t accomplish NSA scapes with large boulders!
