reef-pi :: An opensource reef tank controller based on Raspberry Pi.

I'm helping a mate plan / build a Reef-Pi and we are keen on using the smart-plug option.

HOWEVER, here in SA, we use BS 456 https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipe..._5A_2A.png/330px-BS_546_Plugs_-_15A_5A_2A.png plugs as well as BS 4573 https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/a/a0/ShaverPlugUK.jpg/150px-ShaverPlugUK.jpg And there is talk about standadardising on
NBR 14136 (Type N) https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipe...tlet.jpg/300px-NBR_14136_plugs_and_outlet.jpg

The majority of Smartplugs I see mentioned here I can only find in the US standard plug configuration.

The one brand we do get readily here is Sonoff https://www.smartkit.co.za/product/sonoff-s26-wifi-smart-plug-eu/

Items that enable you to make your plugs, lights, devices and appliances smart.

Are these supported in Reef-Pi at the moment? I'm really unfamiliar with these Smartplugs, but I do see the value in them going forward.

A quick FYI. Just upgraded from 3.0 to 3.1 and the upgrade went without a hitch.

I really like the toggle switch functionality in ATO and Temp modules.

Hey @Ranjib, first of all thanks for this awesome software. I would like to share my own reef pi setup. This is poor mans edition. Im living in Turkey and its very difficult to find many equipments here. Also its nearly imposible buy from eBay etc because of import regulations. Well this diffuculties didnt stop me and want to share my own setup.

I build a very basic 80L guppy freshwater tank for my 4 years old son.

I made a chasis with the help of my son. We used a very basic standart plastic box.

Then i drilled holes and added the connectors. This cheap box looks like a mini computer now.

I builded 2 set power strips from scratch and connected to 8 port relay board.

My son is very keen to put his hand in the water, because of that i use a tank with a simple cover. I added all equipments to the cover like water level sensor and a basic camera with a DIY underwater closure.

I builded a basic ATO system with a basic plastic container and pump.

I hardly modified an cheap OEM feeder and now i can control via my Reef Pi setup. I drilled a hole on the cover for feeder. I use my surface skimmer 5 minutes after feeding thanks to macro function.

I placed my reef pi build inside an waterpoof DIY cabinet based on a cheap Ikea furniture. I use left side of the cabinet for ATO and cannister filters, right side for Reef Pi setup.

My Reef Pi setup controls, DIY light system, heater via temp sensors, ATO via water level sensor, automatic feeder and surface skimmer. Now im working on a basic dosing system.

I have to say that is very slick. Awesome work.

I particularly like that you have the autofeeder working off Reef-Pi. That's my next project. I'm just looking for the right one to mod. Which brand is that? Did you use it specifically for a reason? Or is it just what you had? I'm assuming you opened it up and bypassed all the timer and battery circuits and run it from a timer in Reef-Pi?

We just visited Istanbul late last year. Great architecture, great food and great people

Thank you. The feeder that i used Dophin AF102 LCD. It was cheap and has an manuel feed button. I choose this one, because of manuel feed button. I leaved the power stage as it is but i used a 3V DC power supply soldered directly to PCB. Bypass all timer part on PCB and i leave only manuel circuit active. This circuit can be triggered by a tiny DIY circuit or relay board.

Directly using pi' pwm or using PCA9685, both should work since they are within the expected range ( >2.5 ~ 6VDC) , Set the frequency accordingly (100 ~ 1KHz). Let us know if you need any help
