@Ranjib this is how I have it set up as well and it works fine as long as you know your ip. The only problem is that the main IP address from xfinity is dynamic and mine has changed twice since I have switched to xfinity. Thats why I am looking at a dynDNS service. So if I am in mexico on vacation and my IP changes I can still get to reef-pi
Man I wish I could be a Linux genie and work only in terminal.I use xfinity and just setup port forwarding as and when needed . I find this is best as it does not involve installing anything on the pi (saves cpu) and works even if no desktop manager is present (all my reef-pi builds runs in text mode )
You can always get the ip of any of you devices (including reef-pi ) by going to the devices section. You can also tell xfinity to reserve the ip for that device (kinda static ip)@Ranjib this is how I have it set up as well and it works fine as long as you know your ip. VNC IS PAINFULLY Slow and not a Good option since reef-pi runs on a web server ..You can install VNC on your rasberry pi (should already be on raspbian) and then when you remote in to the pi you then open the browser and log in to reef-pi and control it from there.

I am hoping raspberry pi .org to release a beefier pi 4 with much more powerful processor and more peripherals (usb c) etc.
Kessil a360x is released and that will require us to support usb c based control signal ,
My comcast IPv4 hasn’t changed in years, and my IPv6 prefix only changed when I asked for a /60 instead of a /64, so I’m mostly lazy and don’t bother with a dyndns provider.
I wish I could say the same. Mine has changed twice just in the last 6 months switching over. I know you used to pay extra for a guaranteed static IP but it was crazy expensive.
I have notice this and am going to have to figure out how to set up a web server and all that.

What way do you find it slow? During my tests it was just as fast as using reef-pi on my home network as it was to remote-in.VNC IS PAINFULLY Slow and not a Good option since reef-pi runs on a web server ..

I am new to all raspberry pi stuff, so I was just following these instructions on the reef-pi website on remote access, but it would be nice not to have the extra step of using VNC.
Thanks for the explanation. I have no idea what a web server is but I will try and figure out how to make it work. Maybe @Ranjib you could update that info on your webpage on how to do this?
So you run the VNC Server in the background on the r-pie 24-7 , You run the Client software on your Computer . You have to log into the VNC On your Computer with the Client and connect to the R-PI Only to Launch a web browser in the VNC Client to run pi locally on the R-PI...
Why not just launch a web browser on your computer and log directly into the REEF-PI Web server ... The whole VNC Thing seems Counter productive and Twice as many steps and things that can go wrong .. Also VNC Outside your home network is dependent on many Network Factors. Running it on a Mobile network is far from a smooth experience in my Opinion...
My Thinking Running a piece of software to run a piece of software that will run without running a piece of software to run the piece of software makes me head spin....
