Yes, it is the exact same pump but it is manufactured differently. Filing the ticket and getting it resolved with red sea was easy. Make sure you mark the new pump and the original pump so you do not confuse them. Our living room temp is 72. With just the new pump running (skimmer off), the temp is now 74.5 or so. The replacement pump is free so worth a shot. You need your serial number and purchase invoice.
Awsome, it is worth a shot to see if it works. I actually just got an email saying they are getting the shipping ready, super easy!!! Thanks again for the heads up on the pump and marking them good idea.

I purchased a TMC dc return pump and plumbed in a 1/15 hp chiller. Being in Florida I have never run a tank without one, however when I purchased this tank didn’t plan on a chiller and was surprised how hot it ran above room temperature.

Sucks you even have to do that tho being in Pennsylvania I never thought about the tank overheating. And being.my first tank it's a little frustrating at least iam not alone!

I have the nano peninsula. Comparing pump specs and total volume they way up sized the xl pumps.

Volume: 26 vs. 33
Main pump gph: 250 vs. 410
Skimmer pump gph: 46 vs 74

Mine runs ~72 with the pumps only (no heater). Makes sense that the xl will run hotter due to the over sized pumps. Even worse is that your customer service response implies that red sea know this is an issue…

They definitely know about it sent them a product service email and in the first response said they would send a new pump no questions asked. Hopefully it helps.
