Stopped by the LFS today for a box of the infamous FRITZ RPM BLUE. Havent done a water change in 3 weeks.

Reserved a Harlequin shrimp to battle the asterinas that have been haunting me... And drooled over some cbb's, aiptasia has reared its head again, about 12 I have found thus far. Might be forced to try a cbb to deal.with them. Theres not enough to try berghias again.. But all the cbb's are like 2inches, juveniles. Not sure I wanna risk them so small. If they are there when the harlequin shrimp arrives I might give one a shot.

The current QT batch is doing great. First round of prazipro is in. All eating and no signs of agression at all. No spots, poop is normal. Gonna give them 1 more week and then into the DT they will go. Will likely plan it for next weekend so I can introduce when I have time to observe the reactions from the current inhabitants.

Still havent bothered with the doser yet. Procrastination is my weak point. I guess in all honesty, I'm just nervous to switch from wc's... it's working, so why fix something that isnt broken? Idk...

IMO I don’t there is an issue with juvenile CBB, after all they need to grow therefore need the food aka aiptasia. I say do it Rich.

Looking forward to see the dosing station once decide to pull the trigger.

Geek update: (simon, look away)

Tested tonight. 15g of salt mix in progress.

Going to share a plot of every test I have done since march last year... in preparation to try dosing I felt compelled to really start tracking my consumption and nutrient exports before diving in. Show me THE NUMBERS! :)

The graph is mislead due to the denominations and range they utilize on the y and x axis. But here ya go...

I dont bother with Mg anymore because fritz is so high, tops the chart. (Everytime for 21 months)

I am very pleased with the reality that for almost 2 years I havent backed off on keeping my #'s stable via WC ONLY. Until last week when I overdid it ;)

Talk me into 1 of 2 things...
1. Make plans to build the doser this weekend.
2. Take boring pics of the same coral, again.

@Katrina71 can you please sit these two red head trouble makers down and have a talk with them? I would really appreciate if they had someone who understands them to maybe get through. They dont listen to me... help.

Dosing station get er done and leaves more time for pics in the future when it’s more on auto pilot, let’s see some graphs with flat stable lines and corals going even wilder than they do now

Just made the plans, gonna go have lunch tomorrow and build it at my folks house (i always try to involve my dad in the build every chance I get) He has a ton of power tools as well which makes my life easier.

Thanks guy and to everyone that's been riding me about doing it. Its time.

Is it safe to look again yet?! ;)
No feet. All clear. :D

Love the tank these days looking more reef than frag tank as it was over the summer! Good work bro!

test Mag now with your Alk elavated a bit. I bet your tests come back towards a normal range. Dealing with that myself at the moment And raising Alk to a more balanced number with Mag is allowing the Mag to fall.

I hate chemistry so you’ll need to google that on your own :)

I guess there's no reason not to. Got the 15g ready to go, I'll test after it settles, likely tomorrow. P.i.t.a test. Hehe

Thanks for the heads up. I've been binging BRS and MD videos learning about how the process works in its entirety. I also need to look into manual iron dosing as you suggested months ago. ;Sorry

Thanks for taking the time to share the knowledge with me Corey.

Cheers

Look at the sexy fat bubbles on those two. Love the top down view

3 redheads together is like trying to control a stick of dynamite in your hand.

@Scurvy I might try your dKh idea. I've just been around 8.2 for 2 years and I never thought about trying to raise it.

But I suppose if the Mg drops to normal values, and the other end is a little quicker growth via higher Alk, why not? We shall see.

I get very nervous when i consider any changes. (That's why the doser is like 3 weeks behind) hehe

Not suggesting anything too crazy but since youre already elevated you may as well keep it there for a minute and monitor Mag while its there.
I dont know what Fritz mixes at but for my TM pro its around 1325/50 I think and I was testing close to 1500 and stuck there.

Its dropped back to 1460 for me since I hit 8.6/8.7 earlier this week. Not sure if 1500 will inhibit anything but its higher than recommended so I figure dropping is best. Ideally I hope to see better growth rates with a more balanced set of numbers. We shall see.
