I have both a sigma and tamron macro lenses. Hands down Tamron takes the cake. Have not tried the 105 vr Nikon yet, but at twice the price of the tamron, I cant imagine myself buying one.

Ill snoop around to see if i can find it, but when the tamron came out, it was put to test against every sigma, Nikon, and canon macro lens (at the time) and blew them all away over all. each has its strengths and weaknesses, but I feel for the money, tamron makes a heck of a lens.

Sigma lenses tend to get a little blurry around the corners in certain situations, where the tamron stays razor sharp. Also, it has a deeper inset of the lens which keeps stray light at bay. This is important for shooting through the glass, as it can easily throw off your light meter.

Personally, I was very dissapointed with the nikon 60mm, and i returned it the next day.

Just my opinions, nothing more.

Grey market products are under a international warranty versus a US warranty. Meaning if you have a need for a warranty repair, its going to be a LOT longer, and cost way to ship back and forth. Grey market items are usually only a SMALL amount cheaper, and by no means worth the trouble.

Nice shots..that is a tough choice between the two...being that the Sigma is 1/2 the price as the $760 Nikor.....

Why does this have to be so hard. This is worse than picking out the wheels and tires for my truck......

What is the deal with grey market product that I have seen mentioned????

You probably will not use VR on macro shots anyway unless you hand hold most of your shots. Check out these sites for comparisons of the lenses:
