I got this tang with a set-up I bought over the weekend. Purples are supposed to have nice full dorsal and ventral fins. What would cause this? Is it a disease or a product or poor conditions? I have this one and a yellow in a 75, I know it's not large enough for even one of them but need to get them healthy before off loading them.

Looks to me like something that been nibbling on the fins, but it is really hard to say. What other fish are in the mix with them?

Low oxygen content, coupled with excessive dissolved nutrients encourages this. Frequent partial water changes with abusive amounts of red and green seaweed will speed the healing process. A vitamin supplement such as Selcon will also help immensely (soaked into the seaweed).

Could have been the maroon clown nipping at them. But anyway do as aquabull suggests good water quality, good food and low stress and they should come back.
