My tang has lateral line. I was told that activated carbon or stray voltage are or were probably the culprit. I did away with the carbon. Hes no worse now. My question. Hes eating well and swimming no problem. Will l he ever color back up? He is my pride and joy right now. Got him as a Christmas to me present. :)

when i started using carbon for the first time three months ago. Three days later, I found my yellow tang was sucked into the MP40 for no reason.
wasn't sure carbon played any roll with it. the fish was healthy at the time.

I'm no expert, but it seems that excess nitrate and/or improper nutrition play a role in this disease. What are your parameters? What are you feeding?

yea look up the effects they have its pretty bad, but its more of a longterm effect that leads to discoloration, sickness, eventually the toilet. i dont think the carbon killed your tang overnight?

Try feeding more algae. I have also heard of pretty good results healing HLLE by feeding New Life Spectrum.

Bad cases won't go away completely. They end up with a scar
